**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Looks like the popo f5 early bird offer has just ended. Might see if they do another offer on it soon.

Was also looking at either thr pixel 6a or 7a, but little things like the size/weight, lack of headphone jack or microsd card slot put me off.

ETA, if the F5 is just a rebranded redmi note 12 turbo, could I just order that off AliExpress or eBay?

I'm kinda feeling China phones now aren't the bang for buck line they used to be, unless you take a gamble on one of the lesser brands.

Even the Pixel is looking attractive these days to me.

I was looking at a used Samsung S21+ as it's cheaper than the Poco F5 and still has a few years of updates. It's even an upgrade over my Poco F3 which I can't stand anymore as it can't take a picture of my kids without blurring whereas my wife's old Samsung could.

Yup pixel 7a is the right blend of specs and price when on sale under 400. With good updates and a top camera to boot.

Anyone else's OnePlus phone stealing focus when a notification comes up, since the latest update?

Say I'm browsing on Chrome, before the notification would just pop up over Chrome, now it flips to a blurred home screen in the background when I get a notification.

Poco F5 is on sale at the moment, debating whether to pull the trigger or not.

Thinking maybe the pixel 6a or 7a instead, as the camera element important to me.

Depends really. The phones in the £120-£150 price range are usually miles better than similar priced phones from the bigger names and you can often find nicely specced Pocos in the mid-late £200s when on sale. The release price for these kind of phones are pretty similar to competitors now though and their higher end offerings cost as much as the old iPhones and Samsungs did and spending that much never really feels like a deal.

ticks a lot of boxes and wireless charging is a bonus- lovely display.
