**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Well, I ordered a P7A, but just read a news article that says it has worse version of the tensor chip that is in the other pixel 7s. Might be prone to heating!

Can't cancel the order now, but might just return the P7A when it arrives. Been reading some bad reviews in it now.

Maybe a Poco F5 or X5

The Pixel is still a far better ecosystem to be in than any Chinese device IMO. I switched from a Poco F3 to a Pixel 7 pro and whilst there's almost no difference in speed (most phones are comparable to be honest now) the Pixel is significantly better in every way, especially the camera + you get monthly security updates with Google phones.

My wife has the Pixel 6 and it's just as good. The Tensor 2 chip in the 7A may be slightly different from the 7 and 7 Pro but it's still better than the 6 and there are no problems with performance on that device, so I don't think you'll have any issues.

I've been reading the battery endurance is pretty poor with the 7a though, perhaps down to the modified Samsung tensor chip?

Perhaps another option would be for me to return the 7a, and try get a 7 on offer or used?

Where did you buy from and how much?

The 7a has been recieved pretty omwell by reviewers. It's just news outlets making noise like usual.

Give it a week for it to learn your usage patterns before you give up, it takes a while. I read similar on the 7 Pro but I've never not ended the day on at least 60% with mild usage and ~30% with 5h+ screen on time.

From the Google UK store with 10% off, so £405.

The official reviews look good online on the main websites, but a lot of comments from actual users on twitter/Reddit say otherwise.

Not sure Google will give a full refund if it's been opened and used, then returned just because I don't like it?

You bought it from Google that's good. You can use it for at least a week and a no quibble return if needed.

Try the phone. My guess is you'll like it a lot.

Ok I'll have a think, cheers.

Another option could be return the 7a, and get a used 7 from Amazon Warehouse. Still would be in the £400 to £450 range though.

Is the Honor 70 a good phone? I can get £30 off at Very with a code and slap it on 12 months interest free. £319 basically or should I be looking elsewhere for that price?
i got one of the open box off ebay last week . what a phone the display fantastic

currently have the p30 pro and mi11 , will be keeping the honor . its nice and sleek as well and battery seems a lot better than the mi 11 , will miss wireless charging

Been using the p7a for a few days now. Initially was underwhelmed for the price paid, looks a bit cheapo plastic back. However, I've put it in a chunky case so all that hidden away.

First power on and it did indeed get warm after 10 minutes, but it was doing a bunch of updates simultaneously. Not got noticeably warm since (although I've not put it under load like from gaming, and it's in a case now).

It is starting to grow on me now. Coming from MIUI which I liked, pixelOS put me off. But now I've set it up how I like, and it's good.

Camera seems more responsive than my RN7, a more clarity. Phone is slightly more compact too.

My next purchase will be some pixel buds, probably the cheaper a series when they next go on sale.

Hey folks. Just wondering where y'all are buying your imported phones from? I have an old Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 PRO PRIME PLUS (quite a mouthful) which I bought from AliExpress in 2016. The battery is almost completely dead now from 40% and lower. So I'm definitely needing to get a new phone. I liked that the price of the Chinese phones were considerably cheaper than the Western alternative, but had similar performances.

If you have any 'trustworthy' outlets which sell Chinese phones, please let me know. It will save me a few days of researching, and doubting my choices. Thanks!
