**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

I give a ****.

You want plastic **** for near £400, go ahead.
If you can point out another 6.7" OLED phone with 12/256GB, an SD Card slot, 3.5mm jack, USBC 3.0, wireless (and reverse wireless) charging, IP67 and a half decent camera for £374 I'll be more than happy to take a look and reconsider.

I got the Redmagic 9 Pro in today for review, the specs are quite hilarious

Snapdragon 8 gen 3
16GB RAM
512GB storage
6500mAh battery
80W fast charger (no wireless)
520Hz AMOLED (120Hz in normal mode)
RGB cooling fan
Dual 50MP rear sensors
Under-screen front camera

It actually looks and feels very very premium, bit of a chonk though as you'd expect. The shape is very old skool Xperia/iPhone in the sharp angles. I like it, just a shame there's no wireless charging or IPX rating given the price.

Will be comparing it against my Galaxy S23 Ultra.

164 x 76.4 x 8.9 mm , 8.9mm doesn't seem that chunky considering the battery is 6500mah , I prefer the box shape over curved screen

I have an upgrade itch now with recent releases, the Realme GT5 Pro price for it's spec looks great but missing band 20 :( so now I have my eyes on the OnePlus 12 I'll get the CN version for cheaper just waiting on global release so the ROM becomes available to flash

Flashed my Note 10 Pro with Pixel Experience at the weekend and pretty happy so far. Needing to use Magisk with safety net fix for Google Wallet to work though and seems there's a constant battle between the developer and Google to keep it working.

I tried Xiaomi EU before that which didn't require Magisk as they have their own apk you install which passes safety net but MIUI still felt sluggish and it still needed debloated.

That's true but I mean as in the heft in the hand, because it's so boxy it gives the impression of being bulky, even though it is slightly less wide than the S23 Ultra, because or the 23's curvier sides, it feels smaller in the hand.

How much was the damage?

£0 - Got sent it for review, no documentation for this one though so looks like I'll have myself a phone to keep spare after that's done and dusted :p

Lol at 520hz.

Is that sampling rate as its not screen refresh.

I aint into gaming on mobile just wondering what kind of battery life with 6500mah in general use is the screen LTPO drops down to 1hz ?

FASTER 520HZ TOUCH SHOULDER KEYS

Dual IC touch gaming shoulder key solution, up to 520Hz shoulder key touch sample rate, each IC is responsible for a separate shoulder key, bringing you a smooth multi-finger control experience, a function you can never go back to.

I'm currently doing a video playback test by playing youtube 24/7 at max brightness and so far I'm down to 53% after over 13 hours of screen on time to give you an idea. That's connected to WiFi6 at 5GHz. By comparison the S23 Ultra reviews at about 26 hours of video playback from its 5000mAh. so in theory I should see the 9 Pro get 30 hours or more from a single charge. I#m just draining the battery to zero to see how fast the 80W charger charges it though but this was a good test to see video playback battery life all the same.

Oh yes sorry forgot to check the refresh rate, it seems to only drop to 60Hz having checked when showing the refresh rate from developer options when left to auto. The S23 Ultra goes from 24Hz to 120Hz in the adaptive mode for comparison. The displays are visibly different too, the S23's display is of a higher clarity and looks more natural for colours.

if good deal pops up on the oneplus 12 CN version and flash with oxygen I might go for it, even though Xiaomi mi 11 I have still running great over 2 years maybe just drop in new battery and be done for while longer but after 2 years do have an upgrade itch

Realme GT5 Pro I've seen for £500 for that spec is really good I would have gone for that if only it didnt have network bands missing :(

Gotta say the 80W charging is rather impressive. 6500mAh charged from 2% to 100 in 33 minutes. I believe the OnePlus 11 charged in 22 minutes at 80W but that has a much smaller battery.
