**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

The standard redmi 3, 5 inch has an SD slot too. That's a bargain if you're happy with a 720p screen. 4100mah battery too. Only 2gb ram though. And a snapdragon 615

In case anyone's STILL on the edge of their seat, this is still going swimmingly. Battery life has improved a bit as well. Apart from being a bit big cos I'd prefer 5" or smaller really, it's fuggin ace.

Dunno if @-Ad- got round to doing any of the fannying about, but the LeTV is currently the best phone I've ever owned. Broadly similar in most respects to my old oneplus 1, but without the cack reception issues or slightly yellow screen.

Carry on!

Sorry, should have thought to link it!

Would advise Google translate unless you're very clever and brave!

There's a "grossoshop" version of twrp which is the only one i managed to get to work. Worth the bother though.

I used the 5.5.009s "aroma" rom here, but between the two links it was borderline easy!

Mild-moderate faff, but well worth it. No chinese silliness, no DU battery saver idiocy. It's 5.5.009S now, so all the fixes so far.

Excellent purchase. Lovely phone. Had one for a couple of weeks. Was a charm to use. And the battery was amazing.

Edit. Sent it back in the end cause the top of the frame was not level. Picky I know. But I wasn't happy with it.

Redmi 3 arrived today (only ordered it Saturday which was impressive).
I've installed nova launcher and installed all my apps. It seems great for the money so far.

One thing I have noticed though is charging is incredibly slow. I am using a 2a Samsung charger. Anyone had the same? or is it just because of the huge 4100mah battery?

Google Play Store came pre-installed but it didn't have the google contacts sync parts installed (easily fixed by installing the Google installer app from Eric Xiang).

Pretty happy with my Honor 7 for the money but my one peice of advice would be: Do not remove the factory-fitted screen protector!

I did so thinking I'd be fine because (a) it supposedly has Gorilla Glass 3 and (b) I'm using (and have since fresh out of the box!) the official flip case. However there is no way this really does have GG3 and I actually think the case has not helped... In fact, I think it's made it worse. My screen is covered in scratches! Not sure what I can do - I always look after my phones, never carry it in the same pocket as coins/keys/etc and always use a case. The phone is now outside of any cooling off period and I assume if I contacted the manufacturer no doubt after a long discussion it'd only be a refurb anyway. As it is I have no back-up phones so I cannot return this but it would make me think twice about these bargain basement brands again...

It'll be the flip case which has caused this. I remember one of the members here using a flip case on a galaxy s6 and had exactly the same problem as you're describing. Scratches over the whole screen. I don't think its down to the brand. I've got my smart ultra 6 with no case and no screen protector and have yet to pick up any scratches (touch wood)
