**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Do people opt for the import duty insurance when shipping from China? Not sure whether it's worth adding on another 9 quid to my order or just risk it , hoping they put lower value on the package

I don't know what the differences are. If there's nothing notable then I'll stick to the Chinese rom and avoid having to reinstall all my apps.

I still definitely have an issue with app background data. I can't load up web whatsapp without waking my phone first.

I'm inclined to agree. Aside from a few bits of Chinese text the rom is fine.

Seems like a lot of people have encountered those issues on Xiaomis, hopefully there's a solution!

So the Xiaomi will support 1800MHz and 2600MHz but not 800MHz, meaning indoor coverage might be worse than other devices. Currently won't make any difference as EE aren't widely using 800MHz anyway.

I liked the look of the bluboo xtouch which is 5" and has 800mhz support, but I don't think anyone's bought one so there's a fairly high risk of it being utterly ****. Gearbest have EU stock, supposedly...

But on paper I like it. Only problem with the letv is it's hugeness.

Seems to be £180 now

Still the same for me.

Just a warning guys.

The Mi 5 doesn't seem to have the band 20 (800MHz) frequency which most of our UK networks use in the countryside, although it does have band 3 and 7 (1800MHz + 2600MHz) which most of our networks use within the cities. Well, I think band 7 is used for oversubscribed areas + EE's 4g Extra.

So don't get the Mi5 if you live out in the sticks or visit there often enough.

Is this the same with all Xiaomi phones?

Also what is the differences between the Mi 4S and Mi 4C other than the fact the 4s can take a SD card?

This is the case for most Chinese phones they are designed for the Chinese market. They will work on all 3G networks ,Three 4G and EE 4G.
Im on Three but on 3G i get 30MB d/load and 4G i get 11MB d/load.
As for 2G , i cant remember the last time i even dropped to that but if you live in the middle of nowhere then you might have problems.
