** The Official Days Gone Thread **

Pretty cool so far, like a mix between Dying Light, Last of Us and a few other zombie games.

Graphically impressive, mouse/kb seem fine to me once I set the mouse h/v sens to 0.1 and I didn't see the game speed issue noted in the DF tech video above. Max everything 3440x1440 am getting over 60fps so locked to vsync with no mouse lag which is nice.

I have noticed one bug though, you can't see the torch on Deacon, but you can see the torch beam... slightly annoying.

Most impressive is the slickness of the options menu and how quick you can smash around different settings and how nice the interface is. Other games could learn a thing or two. The in-game weapons/inventory system and crafting is also quite intuitive.

Yeah I was looking out for that but didn't notice it at all. Barely touches the CPU this game too, 6700K is hovering around 15-25% at all times.

Played this pretty deep on the PS5 (IE almost all achievements) but considering double dipping as I enjoyed it so much.

The only issue with the game was the voice acting which was pretty terrible at times. Aside from that, fantastic game.

Ooh yeah one other thing it has some of the best storm sounds I've ever heard, I know it's not Dolby Atmos but it's so well done I could swear the thunder was above me. Amazing sound effects!

Not sure if I'm alone on this but tried to run it for the first time yesterday. And I'm getting 5-8fps 1080p on my gtx 980. I've got the game ready driver installed and ran geforce experience optimised settings before dropping everything down to low and it still won't improve.

I've got an I7 6700K running 4.9ghz any suggestions?
Is it a bug or is being stuck with a 980 the death of this game for me?

Ah awesome, I won't watch any reviews etc as don't wnat any further knowledge of what it's all about and have just bought it on cdkeys. I have the latest Debris ep to watch then will jump in :D

me too I dont follow console games so I might take a punt at this. Just realised its on Epic as well as Steam.

update: Bought it from CDkeys went via quidco for a bit of cashback and also had cdkoins so got another £1 off. £27.49 in end with a bit of cashback too.

Got this from CDKeys for £28, played it for about 40 mins so far and runs 60fps (vsync on) @1440p with a 5700XT and 3900X. GPU is ~65-75% usage with most thing set to high so can increase setting but it looks good and fans don't go to full so am happy.

Starts of slow I believe. Intro is just a tutorial on rails.
okay I was a bit harsh and it does get better.

the climbing mechanic still feels alien and outdated though it might as well say "press E to climb here" and the UI isn't PC friendly when you can't click on it and have to push a keyboard button instead imo

it does seem well optimised cos my pc is old 4670k @ 4ghz, 8gb ram and a 980ti.

I limited the fps to 30 cos the noise of my gpu I find annoying :p at 30fps I'm 80% cpu usage on average where it tells you in the options menu and my gpu just downclocks it self barely being pushed at all.

I still only played for a few hours but I'm enjoying it, going to play some more now.

definitely a buy at £28

Do you have anything else running in the background? Sounds like your GPU is being used by something else. In Task Manager you can filter running apps by GPU utilisation to narrow things down.

Browser windows, Lightroom, Photoshop etc all use GPU acceleration so if they are open may well be using GPU time.

personal choice :P
it's not a fast pace game and there's no fps drops so it feels fine.
I could probably get over a 100 if I stopped limit my gpu so much given im getting 30fps at 620 core clock...

Any idea why I'd be struggling to get 5-8fps on a 980 with a better processor etc?

maybe try the driver version I'm using, it's probably an old one I hardly ever update it.

check my GPU core clock it drops to 620 with fps limited to 30 all settings on there default which I think was high
it literally clocks higher when I alt tab to window lol

No way you should be getting 8fps, I have nvidia contral panel set to optimum power as well not performance mode, I've got msi in green peace mode down clocked and power limit 54%

all options maxed apart from render scale is set to 100, 1920x1080
64% gpu usage only at 913mhz core with 30fps limit.

no way a 980 should get 5-8fps the game seems pretty well optimised to me

I'm currently unpacking the main .pak data file, goodness how long it will take or what I can actually do with it. I have UE4 so hopefully I can examine at least.
