** The Official Days Gone Thread **

Same i love SoD and still play it now from time to time. I love how you need to prepare yourself before every outing/adventure and select the right companions or you could end up being pretty overwhelmed! Damn i kinda miss it now, might give it a bash tonight

Yeah just don't play on the new Lethal difficulty, it's not pleasant.

I just realised you can shoot animals from a bike :o after already having shot other bikers it should have been obvious I guess...

one of the early missions to go get meat wanted me to gather deer from where some horde was lol..... almost died trying to escape past them. you can kill animals anywhere to get the meat.

do hordes randomly move around?, I randomly went in some cave near the start as well... got chased by a horde they wou;dn't stop until I got near a friendly camps gates and they just seemed to stop chasing.
kinda lame I wanted the camp to fight them.

before you get satchel ammos and perks hordes are so scary :O

I hope it doesn't get too easy

You can get them to chase you towards enemy ambush camps, That's a laugh watching them rip through the camp while I hide in the bushes lol

Even with the camera follow options turned off theres still weird little moments where the game sort of tries to take control of the camera and reposition it behind you, something does feel a little "off" with the camera

personal choice :p
it's not a fast pace game and there's no fps drops so it feels fine.
I could probably get over a 100 if I stopped limit my gpu so much given im getting 30fps at 620 core clock...

Might not be fast paced but there's def a smoothness and aesthetic boost from constant 60fps vs 30, that and mouse motion input is smoother too at 60 especially with vsync on.

I've played a bit more today and done some ambush missions, quite enjoyable indeed. I have not turned off camera settings for foot and vehicle but may try this see how much different it is although not noticed any issues with them on?

Performance is a constant 60fps here no matter what is happening on screen. The SSGI used in this is nicely subtle too, fires warmly illuminate surfaces inc tree leaves and light bounce in the colour of the surface the light hits is also apparent like DF highlighted in their tech vid, nice nice. Really impressed with how optimised this feels in pretty much every area.

The more I've played of this the lower my rating of it has gone, there are some really irritating game mechanics, I started out with an initial 9/10 but I'm probably sitting somewhere around 7/10 now. To me, it feels a lot like an Ubisoft game, only not as good (imo), its still decent enough and worth the £28 I paid for it but I'm glad I didnt pay full price for it.

I'm loving the game so far but I'm barely into it.
One problem I am having is the sensitivity of moving the character forward, there's a slight delay, it isn't innovative , like a mili second delay.
Playing it on hard and game running very smoothly on highest settings 1440p with a 3080.

Why are most weapons so naff, so under powered?
These blue question marks that pop up then disappear, I found the source of one purely by accident?
Why does the mini map have less information when on foot?
What purpose do the gun lockers serve?

It is an OK game but not great.

I'd add, why the hell do I have to turn off my motorbike light every time I get on it, cant it default to being off and let me decide if I want to turn it on?
and also why am I forced to do certain fights, even if I have successfully managed to sneak past the mob and the mob has wandered off and is now 100m away?

Definitely agree with being forced to fight when not necessary.
I lobbed two molotovs into a train car full of freakers I am luck if two were killed the rest chased after me then filed back to the train car after I fled?

yeah one example I encountered was the bear after you rescue Lisa, you have to reach your motorbike, I sneaked around the town, came up to my motorbike from behind, the bear had wandered a long long way off and I was stood right there, next to the motorbike. But...I wasnt allowed to get on the bike, instead I was forced to run back through the town to kill the bear before I could then get on the bike. Thats utterly ridiculous imo, do not punish the player for using their brains and successfully avoiding a creature by using tactics
