*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Why are you guys trying to convince me what I think the game should have and don't have? I am not a fan of FPS on consoles as a whole (I've said that before) so trying to persuade me this is the best thing since Doom 2 is never going to happen. I am the last person you should try to convince "I am wrong".

For the record, I do like RPG but these days I really don't have time to spend grinding so it's probably best not get deep into it. RPG is one genre of game that requires almost full time job hours to get good. Think I'll stick to more pick up and play an hour here and there kind of games.

Well amazon finally managed to get my pre-order delivered a day late so had a bit of a play session last night with a few buddies.

As with the beta really enjoyable game played in a group, love the production quality, only issue i seem to see is that the loading times are a hell of a lot longer than it was in beta.

Havent bought any expansions as i want to see how the game looks before i commit to more cash on it but enjoying what little ive seen so far.

I've really enjoying the game - it's everything I expected it to be.

I do have 2 issues though, 1 minor and 1 major.
Loading times are terrible and need addressing ASAP. Tower takes ages to load from the Moon and the tower is tiny so not sure why that is.

2nd, the constant disconnects are making it unplayable. If you're going to launch an online only game you need very stable servers. Had about 20+ disconnects so far and only done around 10 hours or so. Then when you spawn back in you are right back at the beginning - ADD spawn points to the maps so you can jump into different areas.

overall, the game is great but it needs some tweaks because there are certain inconveniences spoiling it.

It was specifically and talked up to be a huge open world that you could go explore, not so much following the beaten path as such, then jump in to skirmishes as you fell upon them on you own walkabout etc.
What their is, is very little content and a short campaign, and VERY linear gameplay.

The Story is a very linear thing but the patrols certainly are not. You join a patrol and it opens up the entire area for you to explore as you wish with what appears to be random events and battles occurring.

I don't think anyone is trying to convince you this is the best thing thing since Doom 2, but are trying to point out your reasons for disliking the game are nonsensical, can be overcome, are personal things or are just plain wrong.

The load times seem to vary depending on who is in the area and who I am grouped with so is likely to be an issue with you connecting or syncing with others. I have also only have 1 disconnection which was due to my wifi being flaky so I would hazard a guess that both issues can be traced back to your connection.

I agree wholeheartedly about spawn points though. It is annoying having to travel so far on each bloody patrol.

I play my fair share of RPG games, Diablo being one of them. This statement is a tad over exaggerated, I work 8 hours a day and have a wife to come home to and I have accomplished a lot in D3. I think to be the best, you know like topping leaderboards etc your statement is probably closer to that but honestly you can still enjoy an RPG and be efficient without putting in crazy hours.

Does the Digital Guardian Edition come with the season pass? I was under the impression it did but it looks like it doesn't, and just comes with two expansion packs whenever they are released. Can't see a way in game to check what content I've got.

There is no season pass it's the "Expansion pass" the guardian edition comes with the expansion pass which entitles you to the first 2 expansions released.

I read there will be at least 10 so at £34.99 a pair this game will get quite expensive over time.....

So, now we have to wait for expansions to finish the story mode of the game?...that's a bit of a laugh isn't it?...and just how much time does this drag out as your games library fills up and you are playing the same kind of levels over and over?

No I dont think thats how its going to work.

The website specifically says 2 weeks for new content.

Are people that are experiencing the disconnections playing with friends online? I have played for about 8-9 hours without being disconnected once but I have not teamed up with anyone yet.

This game has the potential to be epic but as it stands its far too early to tell where it is going to end up.

Here's a thought...

All those people who aren't enjoying the game or plainly just don't like it...
Stop playing it... Move on to something that you might get some enjoyment out of!

The majority of people who love the game, myself included, aren't sitting around spreading endless negativity on here.

Just a thought...

With this game it looks like they have made sure to make a solid starting platform, something that a lot of the failed mmo's didn't and failed.
Afterall they can always bring in good content but if they'd have started with a poor engine/gameplay mechanics then it would have been harder to sort that out.

WOW started small and has built up into something massive, they've added all sorts to that. Activision should know about these type of games owning blizzard and if needs be Blizzard could probably help out bungie in the mmo department.

I like what I've played and just hope they fetch some good content, in a few years it might be massive content wise. They need to spend what they earn back into the game.

I can hope I suppose.

That sounds nice i hope Activision gets it though. Vanilla WOW had a lot more content than this though and even though it was tough to follow the story, if you read the quests properly (which no body did because everybody was rushing to level up) then you could get an idea of what is happening story wise while here the lore is a bit difficult to follow or feel emotions for NPC characters. On the other hand the genre's are different as well so i shouldn't compare the two anyway

I think so, Everything went dark a load of enemies turned up then a ship dumped a spider tank in the middle and said we have 5 mins to destroy it...

It was actually a really good part of the game...

Welcome to Patrol!

There are specific areas where these events happen, usually big open grounds. I had one where I had to kill a bunch of enemies before they escape or something.

Theres one with some kind of drills as well where you have to clear 4 in x amount of time, you cant really do it on your own though.

It's deff not my connection - it's a server issue. My connection is fibre and is 100% stable. I've never had it disconnect on me once in 6 years but on Destiny it's done it loads of times.

It seems 1000s are complaining about it.

hopefully it's just early instability and will settle down in a few days.

it's been fine in the evenings but just certain times during the day it constantly happens. Ah well I just went onto dark souls 2 anyway and will come back to it later

When it does run it's brilliant though. Played most of the 10 hours with mates and enjoying it a lot

Just worked out how much I spent playing WoW for 3 years :p

Worth every penny!

I like this enough to know that I already want the expansions.

Unlucky on the disconnections blitzwing. No real issues here I've dropped out only the once.

Hmm yes could be that. I've been playing it solo so far.
