*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Why on earth would you actively leave adds alive just to get some more pot-shots off on the boss? He's a damn bullet sponge. Unless you're doing the standard strike with 3 well geared high level characters all on the same page of killing him immediately you will get overwhelmed.
.

have you tried this ?

They only overwhelm you when you shoot at them. Don't shoot at them, AT ALL and they just ignore you.

Try it. You get the odd one or two that comes down and finds you that you might have to care of, but all the guys on top ? just ignore them and they will ignore you.

Take a 3 man group. Once in the room just before you see him, have one guy fall back to the previous corridoor with the steps. Have him keep an eye on the mini map. The other two sit at the door way hitting him with all you have. Once that floating thing spawns behind you (guy further back should call it) fall back to where he is, wait 20 seconds (Don't waste ammo on the wizard) it will vanish. Run back in and hit big guy hard again. It takes time but it defo works.

This game puts in place what some call "anti cheese" measures, to stop you doing things in a cheesy way. Like for example the nexus strike, which if you stay up the top and don't come down spawns minotaurs on top of you every 15 seconds. Like the bosses themselves that have a stomp mechanic with an AOE damage that gets around the fact they can't turn very fast and you could easily avoid getting hit by standing underneath him.

The same goes for the moon strike where if you stay in the room, shriekers keep spawning on top of you. The game is giving you a hint - don't be a cheese and hide in the doorway and go find a better spot. I'd definitely advise against this tactic.

Just wanted to say thanks guys, just transferred a TON of coins, material, energy etc from my redundant Titan to my Warlock.

I am now also the proud owner of Ice Breaker :)

I'll be on tonight if anyone wants to buddy up.

Thanks for all the replies so far I'll give the rock camping trick a go

I'm currently level, 11 just not had a great deal of time to play much recently

Thanks

Any XB players around to do the weekly on hard, I need 6 more coins for Ice Breaker and I've not done it yet.

Can someone just explain the math to me here, what should I ideally be looking for next for my Warlock to increase light level.

Do I want to be switching over to my helmet and maxing that, or sticking with my gauntlets? Clearly I need legendary boots.

Any advice on upping my light level would be well received...

Id get the marks to get legendary boots then go about upgrading all of that - you just have to decide if the Exotic Helm or Gloves are more suited to your play. Whatever you choose youll need a legendary replacement for the other piece. Get used to material and shard farming!

ps3ud0

I'm lvl28 from having a maxed out exotic and all other legendary nearly maxed out. Lvl29 is all maxed out with an exotic as well. Lvl30 is VoG raid gear related.

Is this weeks weekly solo-able? last weeks was pretty easy with the guide and hiding under the stairs, but my google-fu is failing and can't seem to see a guide to solo the archon priest.

yes there's a good cheese spot for doing this weeks.

As you enter the arena of the archon priest - there's a balcony in the back, towards the right hand hand side at about the 2 o clock position.

You can go hide under there and stay out of range of most stuff, then after that just chip away at the boss. If he starts to walk around the balcony on top of you, start shooting at other stuff around and chances are he'll come down and investigate.

Step 1) Get lvl 26
Step 2) Stop wasting materials upgrading gear
Step 3) Clear VoG every week
Step 4) Get legendary raid armor drops
Step 5) Fully upgrade 3 pieces raid armor + 1 piece exotic armor
Step 6) ???
Step 7) Congratz you are lvl 30 and free to go AFK til next expansion is released!!1!

I am currently failing at step 4.

Too bad none of them work, every single boss in the game can be exploited so you can kill it without being in danger of dying to the boss. Many of them you can also hide from all the adds. A raid boss, you can even ignore the enrage timer from one location. Pretty lame.

Meh, it works if needs be.

Hutchy showed me this last night, and I was too dimwitted to think about joining him as I was sniping away at the boss.

It works very well though, especially if you're soloing it and are a lower level to the instance.

Only needed one more strange coin and I managed to pick that up whilst upgrading my vanguard rank :)
Bought the Ice Breaker just in case need to do some solar damage as my 300 attack fusion 'purifier' makes mince meat of everything else!

I'm just at the tip of getting to Level 28!! - Got most my armour upgraded but need more shards now to finish upgrading my exotic helmet :( :(

Anyone know of an easy way to get shards? hopefully will pick some up during tonights raid /fingers crossed

I seem to pick up so many Vanguard marks at the moment that I just buy a 65 mark armour and dismantle it for 3 shards. You make those marks back so quickly that by the time you need some more you've probably made them and more back

Do you just grind strikes regularly to build up the marks? (Sorry if this question has been asked and answered before)

I solod it with the fire dmg scout rifle from VoG huehuehue

I've got the void damage AR :( Made short work of Axis Minotaurs and anything unshielded but really sucked against Shanks.

Marks are still capped at 100 per week so no reason to really throw them away for dismantling until you're near the cap of 200.

If you do the daily story and complete a public event for the daily you'll already be 2/3 of your way through to the cap by the end of the week. Only really worth doing Strike Playlist if you're wanting loot or you need to cap out.
