After the week I've had it is small consolation, believe me. My mate that sits next to me at work, and has done for the last 6 years (known him for around 20 years) died suddenly on Tuesday night at the age of 41. Still sinking in to be honest, doesn't feel real.

Work have given me the day off after sending me home yesterday. At least I have something to take my mind off things for the weekend, but damn I would trade it to have him back :(

Sorry for your loss, my best friend died suddenly back in January at the age of 23. Time is certainly a good healer.....hang in there!

As for Diablo III, I'm kinda disappointed with the lack of off-line play. It's gone from my most anticipated game, to wondering if I'll even buy it.

congrats ! You must be the first person in England to receive one!

Seriously ? I would have thought quite a few people had it by now ?

I've played the hell out of this today as Barbarian and am thoroughly enjoying it. Bodies don't half fly far when you give them a good smashing! I'm liking the cauldron thing as well, saves a lot of messing around mooching back and forth to town to sell all your crap. My only concern is how easy it will be to amass a hoard of gold...

One of the questions on the survey I did was. "When you buy Diablo will you stop playing World of Warcraft?"

It seems to me that Diablo could be designed to be a short term game so as not to upset wow subs. There were other questions that gave me the impression that wow subs are of a major consern with other games drawing them away. Could Diablo 3 be hamstringed to save wow subs?

How do you get notified? Is it through your email or do you have to log into Battle.net? If so, how are you notified on there?

Cheers.

I was notified by email. When I logged into my battlenet account Diablo 3 Beta was showing in my list of games.

I've already finished it with the barbarian but am looking forward to getting stuck in with the other classes.

There hasn't been any feedback on the official forums about anyone from the UK getting into the beta as opt-in, so you could be one of the first for sure!

I got an invite from a guy on NeoGAF, I think he works at Blizz, me and at least one other in the D3 thread got PM's saying we would have an invite within the week, the guy checks out too when I looked deeper.

Should have it by Friday :D

This aint the way blizz work

Yeah I was sceptical, but his post history checked out and I wasn't the only one.

Of course I don't actually have access yet (said it could take a week) so until I do I maintain some scepticism.

All well and good if it comes off...

I'd give my full copy of SC2 away for a D3 beta key! Oh i really do want to play it.. Mainly to see how it 'feels'

When the Cataclysm alpha rolled around, everyone on OcUK was banned from it. Think a Blizzard rep posted here, managed to get us all invites then fluffed up the process somehow.

Bit sceptical this time, as one poster has already said.

It happened on these forums once for Cataclysm Alpha.

We all got banned from test realm permanently soon after. It's given me a permanent dislike of Blizzard, they can go **** themselves :p

It was a bit different than that.

Man, how can people twist stories so much?

I don't even know the guy personally who gave us invites (ColinUK) but he is a real nice guy.

We were given access to the Alpha of Cata whilst under a NDA - which means no discussing, taking screenshots and posting it on the internet etc etc.

Unfortunately some scrote broke the NDA, almost cost Colin his job at Blizzard (he isn't a rep, he works at the base in France, check his threads) and as a result, everyone who had received an Alpha F&F invite had their accounts banned whilst under investigation. As it turned out, the final result was that everyone who had received an invite from him wouldn't have the ban over turned. It wasn't Colin's fault, but the person who broke the NDA and almost cost someone their job.
