Was so disappointed with this; I know it's a different production team to the original 2 games, but I had hoped that being a Blizzard game it would be pretty good.
It just feels so dumbed down, I hate the lack of skill tree/customisation. It feels like your only real decision in game, is which gear to where.
Whilst the visual aren't so important in this genre, it looks worse than Titan Quest (released in 2006 on a much lower budget).
The game engine feels clunky, and inferior to older games (or even indie games), of the same genre.
I was already put off this game by the Auction House facility, and even more so with it's "always connected" approach (aka no single player mode).

I've now re-installed Titan Quest, and will use the money that would have been spend on Diablo for Grim Dawn's kickstarter.

I was expecting something epic from Diablo 3 but after playing the beta I wasn't too impressed. I know it's only Act 1 we got to play, I feel something is missing. I was major fan of Diablo 2.

I wish we had longer for the open beta :( Really wanted to try the wizard and demon hunter to see who I wanted to play as my first character.

I didn't want to play too much on the beta which is realy what we used to call a demo, because we can't take part in the beta forums so we are not realy giving feedback.

I remember when i spent 5 hours downloading diablo demo on my 33.6k modem only for it not too work because i didn't have the right version of directx and my mom wouldn't let me download any more due to cost of dialup :( my friend had it on a cd at his house but it was too far. anyway.

I was pleased with the diablo 3 at 1920x1200 the graphics were good and it lived up to expectations. I don't know what people say it had missing, what do you want?

I have never played diablo in multiplayer because i never had internet when i played diablo years ago so i am looking forward to seeing how multiplayer will be.

Have a read here and tell me that customisation is lacking. Did you play with elective mode on? I suspect you did.

Not sure how you can say that, but hey. Sad to see someone discounting a game after only playing a small part of the first chapter, hope you enjoy whichever game it is you play however, everyone has different tastes!

I really enjoyed giving the Beta a go over this weekend. Went through it all with the WD which was relatively easy but a couple of sections with a few special hordes made it slightly tougher.

Will probably use him for the main release as well but overally pretty happy and makes me want the 15th to come even sooner.

The lack of being able to assign skills like strength etc is a bit of a shame because that was quiet good in customizing your class to whatever you liked. If I want to focus on strength how would i do that in diablo 3 ?

I do like the new customizations though, and the way they have put the health on a timer is a welcomed change, because it was pretty easy just loading up the potion shortcuts with health. I wonder if you get magic to speed up the time it takes for health to recharge, probably do.

Sorry i don't know all the correct terminology.

I thought that at first but then I actually thought about it. In the end for most builds you often added you atr points in the same way anyway so I don't think it makes much of a difference. I'm not sure about the skill tree yet though (I do like the way you have 4 active skills and 2 passive ones though, that is a bit easier to manage that having to switch and activate stuff like before.

Gems. At max level using gems you will have approx 600 stat points to allocate to whatever stat you desire. Have a read of that post I linked a few posts previous, it explains it infinitely better than I will ever be able to!

I keep getting "login failed" :(

I've resynced my authenticator as well. I've tried phoning Blizzard but got put on hold for ages.

For me it brought back fond memories of Diablo 2, sure it's missing the old 'broken' skill trees, but the choice of abilities alongside the runes made it diverse and enjoyable.

I, for one, am now madly excited for the release. :D.

Well it's not my usual thing but I enjoyed the Beta, I can see it getting repetitive but then hooking up with some members on here to co-op should make for an entertaining click-fest.

I think I'll buy it, it's a break from the norm for me.

Customisation is lacking in the terms that it's linear progression (a step back in my opinion), there's no more choosing something to be different to the next Barb/Wiz next to you, you both hit 12 and you both get Tremor(or whatever it is, ground bash wave thing).

Of course, when it comes to level 30 you'll no doubt look, have different skills active etc, but it's the whole "I can't go down a line from level 2 onwards but follow what I'm given" philosophy I don't like.

It's not hard to see all these decision are to make the game easier to get into and leave absolutely zero room to make mistakes in spending/allocating stats/skills etc. Although I'd have prefer both, keep the old systems in with resets to keep both parties happy.

God damn it's ugly.
Also, as stated above, the lack of customisation is really painful.

Plus some of the game just seems ridiculous, like the corpse spiders spell for the WD. He seems like the comic relief character

The barbarian is so much fun. Everything he does has so much kinetic feedback it gives a real sense of satisfaction whenever he hits anything. The game seems like it's made for the barbarian. It bugs me that other classes get a huge selection of weapons but don't actually use any of them, they just use abilities instead but use their main hand for stats.
