I was thinking about trying to keep my movement speed at 24% for farming without loosing my crit chance on my bracers (got some cheap prowlers).

Looked at inner temperance but they were way to expensive ten min later look what dropped, first set! :D

Dont know if you guys are following what is happening on the PTR, but one of the main changes is items rolling affixes at the monster level that dropped it. Key point on this is, on test at least rings, amulets etc can all roll ilevel 63 levels of stats (eg crit) even on ilevels below 63. Dont buy 4.5cc rings and 8.5cc amulets especially until either this patch launches or they confirm it wont be like this in live because if it goes live like this their value will tank hard, since rings new max will be 6 and amulets 10.

Downloading the PTR now. Haven't played much since GW2 came out. Will go back if I like patch 1.05 though.

LOL, PTR doesn't even work. Error 12. Bye bye blizzard.

yeah i hav but didnt realise it would tank rings/amulets like that, cheers for the tip brok, mite hav 2 try and flog sum of my stash asap :p

The average quality of items is going to go through the roof. I just had a level 60 set of bracers drop that had 5.5 crit. Average quality of rolls seems to be a lot higher, but of course you still need a useful combination.

Monster power, well I'm kinda not convinced about it right now. It does make the game harder, but I'm not sure the rewards are worth it. Its nice to get flattened again rather than steamrolling, but that will get dull eventually :p

The infernal machine thing is going to get frustrating, seems keys are more likely to drop at higher monster power levels but then it takes a week to kill an elite pack.

Lol just looking at some of the item rolls on the PTR AH -

amulets with 98% crit damage and 950loh

ilevel 61 rings with 48% crit damage

etc

Player power is getting a boost, and your old jewellery is gonna be (relatively) worthless.

This game gets slated a lot, but to be honest I've not really played much more than an hour or so.

Why do people have so much hate for it? Really enjoyed Torchlight so going to go back to this soon I think. Will I be disappointed? Or are people just moaning for the sake of it?

I think the main problem is that because it has an Auction House the odds of you actually finding an upgrade versus being able to buy one are quite small. This means you spend your time looking for something sellable rather than something you will use which isnt necessarily as satisfying.

Item rolls are also very random, you find a lot of junk. This is mitigated somewhat once you reach a certain gear level by the sheer volume of items you find. The 1.0.5 changes mean you are more likely to find good items, but this is true for everyone so it just means the average quality of items on the AH is going to go up.

A couple of nice things in 1.0.5 are that at Monster Power 0, Inferno Act 3 is very easy so the content is more accessible, and from MP1 up all mobs in Inferno are level 63 and this coupled with the item roll changes mean you are much more likely to find an upgrade than before in any act (at least until your average item quality increases, then of course the time to find becomes increasingly longer).

Basically if you like to farm, its a good game. If you dont, you will probably hate it.

Thanks for the info. I'm not an auction house player (I do all my own drops which I find more fun) but it is great to know that the iLvls are going up. Hadn't seen this on diablofans so thanks for the heads up!

I dont want to farm, just want to play a decent Action RPG.

I don't understand how having an auction house would detract from the game itself? If I just play and not use this feature will I enjoy it? pretty subjective question I know, lol.

Well its like having a jar of sweets in front of you and not taking one, totally depends on your willpower ;) There isnt a 'no AH' mode unfortunately, I think the game would benefit from it a lot.

The new Monster Power system does allow people to scale the challenge of their games however, and I can tell you now that MP 0 is really easy whilst MP10 is like a battle of endurance (and also rather dull imo:P), with Act 3 packs having 35-50 milion hp.

Pretty sure I have a free trial key somewhere so if you want to give it a shot without shelling out cash, send me an email in trust and I'll send you a key

I bought the game on launch, lol.

Only played a couple hours then got sidetracked to something else!

well you have to play through the game essentially 4 times in order to 'complete' it, ie. killing the last boss etc. but once youve done it the first time, its exactly the same story/quest wise for the next 3 run throughs.
and i wish you the best of luck not using the AH, it sounds great to begin with but you will need to be exceptionally lucky in order to fill each item slot with decent items and not be stuck farming for hours and hours in the rather slim hope of something dropping. if you dont like farming either, youre in a worse predicament.

i would seriously reconsider this game though if i didnt like spending time killing stuff a lot or wasnt going to use the AH at all. the game is balanced around the AH unfortunately and anyone who says it isnt just isnt being honest.

If you've played multiple characters you soon realise that the game was balanced on Normal for your 1st playthrough and Inferno for your 4th playthrough. I would really like to know who the ****tard was that thought Nightmare and Hell bosses should drop no loot just because you killed them once on Normal. Those 2 difficulties feel like a grind through and through because they paid no real attention to them at all. On Hardcore you just have to take them a little slower and use the AH often because you never get the gear from drops to play through safely.

What is this PTR thing anyway? And why has it taken the Dungeon Defenders approach to balancing?

What's the Dungeon Defenders approach? :s

Games normally have power creeps, particularly when expansions/DLCs are involved. Dungeon Defenders had a something more akin to a power sprint. One moment they were balancing things and nerfing overpowered weapons, then suddenly they started releasing updates and DLCs with gear so powerful it made the previous gear completely obsolete and they did that several times.

But I digress. If the D3 devs start releasing updates that causes regular loot to be considerably more powerful than currently available loot they will probably lose many more players.

Sold some of my DH gear, just got to sell a few more items got over 200m gold now though so going to roll a new character I think.

Got a level 60 wizard or a 53 barb don't know which to use. Wasn't enjoying the DH on 1.05 at all!

Its because ToC has become comfortable, I had the same shock at first but their are definitely viable builds to be had. I got 4 stacks on MP10 using a grenades build then I got DCd but it did work, and this was with like 200loh. With 1k+ and infinite SP:Gloom its going to be invincible I reckon.
