What MB are you running?

Asrock 4CoreDUAL-VSTA BIOS 1.7.

I reset cmos and then went straight in at 300fsb 2.7gigs, its got through 2hours of orth so far with a dvd burn and virus check at the same time.

Before it wouldnt last 5minutes. I dont know whats different apart from resetting cmos but i think its going to go the full 10hrs orth stable at 300fsb 2.7gigs.

Fingers crossed ill post results tomorrow. Ill be well happy as 2.7 was my goal when i bought the chip.

Thanks mate, 2hr orth stable so far. Im happy as ive never had a cpu with a clock rate faster than 2.5 ever, which was an amd64 3200 venice. This cpu seems so much more quicker !

Its strange how i was creeping up to 300mhz fsb but couldnt get anything stable past 2.6. I tried 305mhz fsb and it crashed on post and i had to take battery out to reset cmos. I went straight to 300mhz fsb and it feels soooo stable compared to my last shot at 300  I even burned a dvd in 30mins while doing orth + virus checking and its stable as ever.

Its looking really good so far, ill be happy when i see it hit 10hours in orth  Temps are high but im ordering ac7 this friday :)

Truth be told, i never went 10 hours on Orthos...you can sorta tell whether it'll work out or not. This is my first overclock, and i'm satisfied. In Orthos or TAT my temps stop going up after about 15 mins, so I still let it run about 90 mins or so, and the temp line was flat.

very nice!

Its odd sometimes how a unstable chip can suddenly become stable despite you not really adjusting any settings (in your case just restting cmos).

Got another machine built with a 2140 and a Gigabyte P35-S3 (S3 not DS3!). Using stock cooler and running at 1.112v @ 2400MHz running Orthos it's at 57c with only one case fan.

Going to see if I can get it to 2800MHz at 1.11v or 1.20v

Cant get my cpu stable at 400 no matter what volts i use.Not sure if its the RAM or the chip.Sits ok at 3ghz though will run Orthos on it over the weekend as im to busy playing BF2 :D

You can but not from OcUK as far as i know.

Sorry for questions! But whats the name of your fan and how much did it cost you?

Im going to buy a new fan tomorrow (i love pay day)

Its the Zerotherm BTF95.It does a good job without a fan but even better with a silent 120mm strapped to it.I tried both and got a 3-5 degree drop using a fan.
