Did you think the 360 was expensive on release?

I don't remember how much they were on release. I didn't buy one until a year (?) after release. Mine came with 5 premium games and 10% staff discount, and was £300.

That was pretty expensive, and we weren't in a recession back then.

£280 vs £430 is a pretty big jump, the 360 made loads of sales off the back of simply being a far cheaper buy in than the £425 PS3, even though the PS3 boasted 'extra value' in it's BluRay drive.

I think £430 is too much for the 360 to do REALLY well and if Sony play a sly one and release at £350 or so, they'll steal a march on Microsoft I think.

So surely 8 years later and including Kinect and new technology you can't be that surprised with the price tag?

True but when console games are 40quid compared with 2 for an ipad etc then it's expensive!

Not when you consider how in depth the games are, there's a reason ipad games cost £2-5 they are crap and cost sod all to produce.
They are not full pc games in the slightest, not even remotely on the same level.

All the entire ipad vs xbone is a bit silly, totally different devices and uses. I'll be surprised if ps4 is more than £30 either way of xbone.

I thought you might say that.

In real terms, how many people have pay rises in the last few years? I know my pay has been frozen for 3 years now (as long as I've had my current job).

Yes inflation might make costs increase, but salaries aren't increasing to match, so in real terms the One is more expensive.

Wait, aren't you the guy who keeps saying tablet gaming is the future? Confused now!

Do people really care about Killer Instinct? I'm not really a fighting game fan but I'd never even heard of it before yesterday.

Probably my favourite fighting game from back on the Snes. Orchid or Chief Thunder were awesome, and something very satisfying about pulling off ultra combos :D

So I for one am happy to see it coming, although I don't find as much enjoyment in the fighting games these days.

Why are you confused future/=now
Haswell is the first step on a long line of faster and less power chips, win8 is the first of the unification process of the os. It's not hard to see where this is going and what possibilities it throws up. Why pay for a desktop when you have an extremely powerful tablet that can be "pluged"(not that you actually need to plug it in these days to show on a monitor) into a monitor and controller.
