Why is it if people have a personal preference for one system or another some chose to throw random insults.

They are games consoles, they aren't that important in the grand scheme of things. Just be happy that not everyone likes the same thing or we would now be being force fed a single device, with one type of game and a sky high price tag.

:)

PS4 knocked it right out of the park!

There is no contest now, none.

Cheaper, consumer friendly and its a gaming machine.

Day 1 purchase for me.

GG Microsoft, but you just lost this one.

So the Ps4 is smaller, cheaper, more powerful, no DRM, no online requrements, probably a better Blu-Ray player (considering it's a Sony console), probably still a better media player than Xbox One (more codec support etc), comes with a headset, will offer cloud gaming at some point, will see Planetside 2 join the party? Sold.

Hmm i'm sure i saw that somewhere, but now I can't find it again. Can only see mention of free 14 days

Every Xbox One system sold will include the new Xbox One console — which features a 500GB hard drive,1 Blu-ray player and built-in Wi-Fi — the new Kinect, one Xbox One Wireless Controller and a free 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold for new members. The Xbox One launch bundle will be available for $499.99 in the U.S., £429 (GBP) in the U.K. and €499 (EUR) in European markets.

Stayed up last night to watch it but fell asleep before the price tag was announced....

MS < HEADSHOT BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! :D:D:D

PS4 looks incredible, just one thing how much is the sony warranty gonna be? The jungle are offering 3 year cover at 46.99...

So let's break it down fully.

Big exclusives:

PS4 - Infamous, Killzone, Rain, Gran Turismo, Destiny, The Order, Drive Club, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, open beta of Elder Scrolls Online, Dark Sorcerer (not sure?) & will have Indie games

Xbox ONE - Halo, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Ryse, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark, Crimson Dragon & Quantum Break

Console benefits:

PS4 - Cheaper launch price, much better value for money in the long term, cheaper online service, cloud gaming, better hardware power, much smaller console, lots of exclusive content in multiplatform games, vastly superior catalog of free games for subscribers

Xbox ONE - 14 days free Xbox Live, after the RROD they are unlikely to have hardware faults, bigger console most likely wont overheat

Console drawbacks:

PS4 - smaller console may lead to heating problems, no more free online

Xbox ONE - considerably more expensive, must have an internet connection available every 24 hours, cannot trade in games

Anything I've missed?

I must admit on paper it looks like Sony still have the edge for me but my kids love the Kinect...

What's the estimated release dates for both?

Just watched the Watch Dogs footage from last night - that game looks seriously immense. Whatever next-gen console I end up with, I want the game on that!

You missed one ( see bold ), and its quite an assumption that the Xb1 won't have any Indi games - you could equally counter your point by mentioning the small studio titles found on Xbox Arcade as being a perk for MS that Sony are still catching up quality wise.
