Thats a fair point, doesnt negate what quite a few developers have said about getting games on the Xbox platform. I think this new gen might make it easier with Sony embracing them and MS being just a bit less arrogant.

Quite a number of Indie developers have been praising Sony's approach and claiming that they're trying to make themselves the only choice when it comes to indies on console.

Just watched both console launch events. I think the xbone had a slightly more compelling launch line up if they are all exclusives. The PS4 overall came across overall better as a broad spectrum gaming system. Not too bothered about reselling games or the online call home, but being able to lend a friend a disc is a big one for me. Self publishing is a big deal in having a broad library of high budget blockbuster games and low/no budget indie titles.

I doubt the graphics will be better from one platform to another, ps4 looks like it'll be able to hold a better consistent framerate.

The xbone pass thru HDMI feature has zero interest to me, I don't have a TV signal either terrestrial or cable.

It almost feels like an inverted 360/ps3 launch to me - the more expensive media device vs the dedicated games console.

I'm a PC gamer first and foremost, I picked up a PS3 last generation mainly because it had a more divergent set of games than the 360 compared to my PC. Not sure that position has changed, other than maybe Metal Gear Redemption - Afghanistan.

Also, I really don't understand the flag pinning on Halo. If I was a fan, i'd be more interested in what Bungie are up to than the rent-a-dev team making sequels to that IP. I guess 343 are competent at least.

The Ps4's CPU is 2x as powerful and it has something like an extra GFLOP or two, whatever the hell they are. Same GPUs though, so I think we'll see much better LODs and framerates on PS4.

Actually I dont really get all the jargon and I'm probably wrong, so I'll just quote this for the techies. :p

On the surface, it appears as if the PS4 and Xbox One have the same AMD Radeon GPU. However, the PS4's is more powerful with 1152 cores compared to the Xbox One's 768 – 50 percent more, according to Anandtech. It also has a higher peak shader throughput of 1.84 TFLOPS against 1.23 TFLOPS of the Xbox One – although this is less important.

CPUs are the same (I cant see the clock speeds differing, well not enough to significantly improving gaming), APU/GPUs differ in power, percentage dependent on the source you quote (again clock speeds unknown). All you can say is the PS4s APU/GPU is more powerful, debatable how much and where you will notice it other than exclusives. It would be nice to think multi-plats will look better on the PS4, but tbh the most you could say is that its unlikely to look the worst...

But just "IF" your internet was to go down or you moved house your telling me you wouldnt be alittle ****** off??

I dont understand how you can be happy with that...

Well if the internet is down you can't go online period and if I'm moving house, I'm not gaming at that particular time.

How longs your current console been sat with it's ethernet cable in?

Is it really that bad?

I'll go visit some family and take my Xbox Done. Oh wait they don't have the internet, i can't even use it. Ah well £429 well spent.

So much to see at E3 ! Really impressed with the looks of the new Playstation 4 and I've put a pre order in this morning on Amazon, hope they have some good console bundles released soon.

I was really hoping that Sony would really, really push the boat out and announce a partnership with Nintendo so that you might see the Nintendo exclusives on Sony too. A man can dream can't he! :p.

For me, it's not the practical implications of the DRM, it's the idea behind it. It does nothing for the consumer other than potentially cause problems. They're taking away features we've had since the Commodore and Atari's and there is just no need other than greed on Microsoft's part.

Internet goes down and you cant play any single player games?? really, I am stunned that does not cause any concern...

When I moved house, my internet was not installed for two weeks (thanks sky), again, your saying I should just accept that I cant go play a single player game??

Just some small examples... the DRM side dont really bother me, its this online check every 24 hours, if this fails it stops me using the console to game on... Silliness!!

Lettuce be real tea here, how many people nowadays don't have the internet. Is it really going to affect you that badly that you can't play on your games on a family visit even for a few days.
