Got my e4300, gigabyte ds3, 2 gig of team elite 6400 memory and my antec 900 case.

I get home to mucho exitement. After many hours of moving stuff from one case to another, installing all the lovely bits into my lovely new case I press the "on" button and....... NOTHING! Well, that's not exactly true, everything seemed to come but the picture on my monitor. Looks like I've got a borked mobo. I tried the graphics card in the old set up and it worked. So i am surfing the overclockers forums on my old gear - still

What's the RMA process?

double check all wires, maybe your psu doesnt have the right power leads? does it have a 24 pin connector or a 20 pin connector, maybe there is a loose wire somewhere, rma process with overclockers should take a week, ive got a borked stick of ram, gonna fill out an rma form tomorrow because i got another package from ocuk arriving and guess what retail home premium doesnt have the 64 bit dvd so im gonna just send that back too and get ultimate

If you do I'll marry you :D

Is that supposed to be an incentive? There's really no easy way of breaking this to you, but I just don't find you attractive. Do you mind if I ask your phase cooling system out on a date though?

3.5ghz @ 1.55v
3.5ghz Orthos stable.Only 2 hrs but I think the block needed to be reseated.

Testing shows that this cpu will not boot at 3.6ghz with any vcore.

3.4ghz needs 1.475v

3.5 ghz needs 1.55 v

The increase in vcore for 100mhz is not worth it.

Pretty disappointed with those results tbh. The only saving grace over the 6300 is the added multi. With a 965 board or something like the P5N-E running the 650i chipset the 6300 still looks a better way to go. Should perform better at the same clockspeed too (not much in it though)

What batch code is your chip easy? Also, regarding temps - they could well be correct. Some of the Core2's run MUCH hotter than others, especially as you jack up the voltage.

thats a shame....was getting morealess the same setup....would have been nice to see the results.

Getting my asus 650i board today. Will try and get my chip to 3.6ghz. Got it to 3.4ghz with 1.35v in bios so i'm hoping for good results (better than easy anyway :))

Is that 3.4ghz @ 1.35v orthos stable?

If so let me know the batch...

EDIT:

Please only post screenies of orthos stable clocks....As booting into windows on low vcore DOES not mean a successful overclock. ;)

Cheers Psycho,

I've checked all the wires they were definitely all in. I've checked it wasn't the memory sticks (tried them individually) definitely looks like an RMA on the mobo.

Ah well, back tot he old opteron for the while. Got to say the antec 900 is lovely. It took the temperatures down by 7 - 10 degrees on the opty set up and 1950xt!

Good luck xsnv, look forward to seeing your work. I did enjoy your first posts and it seems you may have a nice chip there, mine wouldn't boot up at 3.4GHz using just 1.35vCore so u may be the lucky one!

BTW: How come you've got a new mobo? you were using an ABIT AWD9 Max right?

Just wondering what you think would be best to go with my new rig, a E6300 or E4300? its going on a DS3, 2gb of Geil and a G80GTX. I will most probably be overclocking at some point.

Probably a 6300 with that setup.

Well has nobody hit the magic 3.6ghz mark yet then?

Easyrider, from your above post would i be better with a E6300 then? I have the same mobo and ram

hey guys...my abit decided to die on me so ordered a 650i. It had a solid 379fsb limit anyway.

I've managed to get my 4300 to 3.6ghz with 1.45vcore in bios but it's not stable yet. I think it's my memory because all the advanced mem timmings are on auto.

Whats *** best way to run the mem? linked/unlinked ?

Thanks

Screenies comming soon...hopefully :)

what should i set the ldt at? is it the same as amd's...i.e try to keep as close to 1000mhz as possible?
