Doh, got 125000cr, bought a Viper - got the "please wait" spinning logo and that stayed on screen of five mins - terminated the client via ctrl, alt and delete and when logging back in I'm not in a Viper, I'm down 75000cr and the Viper is no longer for sale in the ship yard :-(

Oh well, the joys of playing a beta - bug reported :-)

Ouch!!, I got the same when I purchased my Viper last night, pressed ctrl, alt, delete and was about to end task when all of a sudden the station sounds came on, went back into the game and all was ok with a shiny new Viper, awesome ship btw.

This game is brutal with lost credits, taking me forever to get to the Cobra, mostly though its been my own fault :D.

Finally!

Im am now the proud owner of a cobra MkIII - the first couple of trading runs with it today have never seen such careful docking procedures :-)

Anyone else up for an in game meet tomorrow at nine PM? Just hop on our team speak around then, we'll get up to some mischief! :-)

Never used team speak and have yet to try combat, so bit early for me now but further down the line...

I'm quite surprised there isn't a plethora of videos going up yet showcasing this game from you guys. Is it not open BETA now?

Here ya go!

First attempt at docking - went a lot better than my first attempt in 1985!

Some combat:-

And lets have a look at a big space station!:-

Hope you have enough to cover insurance for it. I Traded up to a viper and accidently crashed it didn't have enough moneys for insurance and started back at the sidewinder :( .

Now using the eagle and loving it though I am trapped in Freeport currently since its jump range is horrific. Making a fair chunk from just farming transports at the nav beacon or striking lucky at signals.

thank you dude...i need videos, more videos from you guys. The wait is so painful even though im waiting more on Star Citizen, I must have spent 10 years of my youth playing the original Elite and really really like the look of this.

How does it compare to Freelancer and X series? Hope its somewhere in the middle. X is a bit too deep.

^^^^^
brill thanks man.

Just how good is the game at the minute guys? honestly

The game is in a good place at the moment. Obviously there's still a fair few bugs to iron out, but it is in Beta still and has to be expected.

Combat isn't something I'm into as I tend to leg it when I get Interdicted by pirates etc and I've just been running trade runs in my hauler for the time being.

Looking forward to the expansion of the game as we progress through the beta and it feels like Elite to me, so they're doing a good job :D

At the moment you can do 2 things afaik ( only just bought it so might be missing something/s):

Trade runs

Combat against ncp's, other players, or both at the same time.

It depends how much of a sci-fi nut you are, and if you've always wanted to fly your own spaceship :)

It is beta though, so plenty of things are missing.

If you're not a sci-fi nut & are just looking for something else to play, then I'd hold off until retail.

If you are a sci-fi nut then you'll gawk at the gfx when inside a station, spend ages just mouse-looking around, keep jumping into hyperspace to gawk & the vfx and at how the sun looks when you drop out and generally just flying around.

And if you wear headphones/ can turn the volume up high, you'll have an ear-gasm as the sound fx so far are superb.

They deserve an award just purely for the sound and visual representations of flying/jumping through space. The creaks and micro-impact sounds are incredibly well done.

Spent the best part of 2 weeks looking for anyone who had a X55 in stock that wasn't demanding an insane price of £250+.

Found one company who had stock and only asked a mere £140 ex.vat for them, dispatched same day and should arrive tomorrow :)

Go on...

Was it a store where those interested in flight may shop? In all honesty, still not decided on setup, the X52 jsut looks so more 'spacey' even if it is allegedly inferior to the X55. Plus I really like the flipper switch and more glows.
