I think they definitely need a bit more value for money on the tiers, £60 for the boxed game and £50 for Beta access seems a bit steep. Tempted to get my name in the database though, but would you ever find yourself with 100 gazillion planets/stations? :D

Trending towards only 92% of the required goal now :( So unless there is a massive upturn on pledges this is not going to make it :(

Come on people, this could be a fantastic game, stick some cash in now!

Typical KS trending means that it will get about as big a pledge burst as it did at the start so the actual trending is not an excellent guide for where it's going.

Personally I'd like to see it blitz the goal and I get the feeling that everyone else would too. From the interview with DB and Chris it seemed that Chris was giving out some pretty direct and poignant information with regards to how to approach a KS campaign and make it super successful and I'd be very surprised if we didn't start to see a really big influx of info toward the end. It's just unfortunate that a really large number of people are going to be away on holiday over the period. Maybe there will be some hungover pledges made on Jan 1st :D

Hope you're right about the trending. I've been following it on Kicktraq and things don't look too good at the moment. I will certainly throw some more cash in before the end though.

What's the difference between the sold out £20 pledge and the £30 one. Do you get 2 copies? If they allowed more £20 pledges they may find it easier to make target.

You'd think but if that were the case then wouldn't the £20 one have disappeared faster? Supply/Demand etc...

No I think there is going to be a combination of more info being fed from Frontier and also a good finishing trend toward the end. I'd be lying if I said that there wasn't an element of trepidation surrounding it though.

I wouldn't say it was epic, the only thing that's added to the video is the music which has been over-used in countless movie trailers.

It's ok :)

Funding seems to be gradually slowing down for this...really hoping it has a big surge at the end. Clear correllation between the BBC News report on it and the funding peak...maybe they ought to get some of the other news channels to report again...

Aye, but it does sound like it will be fantastic when it is included. Rather than a nicely textured but ultimately dead planet you will get wildlife and cities and a genuine unique feel to each planet!

I have a feeling he is telling people a lot of things people want but ultimately would be impossible based on their budget and time and team. Not sure how he can do everything he says even if not all at once, where will the money come from for developing all these cool ideas. If he does a dlc system with actual real gameplay added with the dlc then possibly he could do it using a preorder dlc system maybe.

Tho if somehow he can pull it off with the budget and team size etc then cool.

The current kickstarter goal will only fund the basic game as described (in simple terms a modernised version of Elite with multiplayer). If by some miracle there is a huge increase in pledges and it smashes the goal the planetary landings may be added as a stretch goal based on how much additional funding has been gained. More likely as Braben has stated is that development on the landings will more likely be funded by commercial sales of the game. This will then be sold as DLC that will then fund the next round of developments for the game. There has been mention that higher tier pledgers on Kickstarter may get the updates free.

Personally i don't mind the landings missing from the initial game. I rarely landed on planets playing Frontier, and I actually think allowing people to leave the ship in the game will be a mistake. Elite was foremost about the ship.

Well put Skeet. I have not been following the videos in great detail but everytime I check my email there is always some kind of new update.... and yes it is nice to know whats going on, but cant help but feel they seem to spend more time worrying about latest updates and telling us "what they want to do", than actually sitting down and actually working on "achieving what they want to do".

And not being able to go down to the planets surface? I mean... that was one of the coolest things you can do in the Elite 2/3. Not to include it initially? It can work either way.

One respect you could immediately alienate your hardcore fanbase initially. On the other hand the hardcore fanbase have waited this long and wouldnt mind waiting longer for that particular feature and as such Braben has already laid out a long term plan for the game to keep the public continously engaged. Whether this was by design, or whether it was purely due to circumstances (i.e. lack of funds/manpower/time) is another question. But the end result, could swing either way.

EDIT: Walk around space stations? That could be very cool :)

EDIT2: Ok now having watched the entire video. Cant help but feel that the project is wavering a little and I sense some nervousness. I think they are now realising they are out of their depth and cannot achieve what they want to achieve in one fell swoop. I really do hope I am wrong and that this "continous development" strategy pays off for DB.
