Folks, just checking the KS website for the £90 pledge and it describes it as:

Physical DRM-free collector's premium boxed edition of "Elite: Dangerous". This includes all the rewards above, except a premium boxed edition is in place of the standard boxed addition, which includes a T shirt with "I backed Elite: Dangerous" on the back, and a paperback copy of the official sequel to "The Dark Wheel".

Estimated delivery: Mar 2014

Where is any mention of the expansions etc?
They're not allowed to change the pledge text after somebody has pledged to it. The info is in update #13

Well I am pretty disappointed that landing on planets will not be in game at release. And if I understood correctly neither will cockpits. But I could be wrong on that one.

I get the feeling when watching the latest update that we at release will be beta test an unfinished product.

David says there are so many great plans for the game that wont make it to release.

I am not interested any more to be honest with what we will get at release. Probably not even space stations to dock with. So many things left out that where in Frontier.
I think I am going to withdraw my pledge. I am sorry, but this was disappointing.

You do know how long it takes to get these kind of features built / looking good and be functional to a point the customer doesn't moan?

You do know the amount of planets that will be in this game don't you?

Putting this in at release would possibly be the most stupid move they could ever make.

Sorry, you're being way too pessimistic here. Cockpits were mentioned n the very first gameplay video as being in the release, as was docking at space stations.

I'm increasingly wary of what they are going to spend this cash on. Fundamentally they've demonstrated gameplay in what is presumably the 3d engine that will be used to some degree, network play, they already have the means to generate the galaxy from E2, so essentially they have everything to make a higher res, multiplayer version of Elite already in the can.

The whole talk of procedural generation early on was clearly with more detailed planets in mind, there's nothing else that would benefit from that type of technology in game as it was already used to generate the galaxy down to planetary detail in E2. Yet we're now told this won't be added intially but only if the game is a success? Where is the money going that the KS is raising?

I think the money is essentially guaranteed sales and a bit of development on top of what they've already done. Let's face it Braben has released some very buggy games in the past and I doubt he'd want a repeat of Frontier :P

I just backed it, hopefully others will to - you don't have long if you want to do so. 4th January 2013 is closing date for funding folks.

Actually it's not that difficult and they have well into 2014 to do it and a bucketload of cash if KS is fully funded. NOT putting it in if it were expected (I don't expect it..) would be a mistake.

Personally I'm not massively fussed about landing on planets but I'll agree with the previous poster it would be great and certainly an added selling point.

Well, the extra rewards appear to have one a bit of good over the last two days with a decent bump in pledges. Projection cone goes from just under 1m to 1.4m.

Spad the word people, this COULD b one of the best games to be released for a long time!

A nice statistic from Kickstarter was, I think, something like: 98% of games which hit 60% of their funding goal get funded. I'm sure the last 4 or 5 days will see a massive surge in pledges, and it'll get the green light.

Possibly more to do with the £20 tier no longer available. I always thought that tier was daft, £25 or £30 would not have made that much difference, and added another 50K at least.

For landing on planets see update #12 on the KS page.

My money is staying firmly in my pocket until they introduce proper landing on planets. I might as well go play X3 if they don't

In fairness it was pretty pointless in Frontier and FFE, the rewards for mining were pathetic and what else is there todo in the middle of nowhere,
unless you could set up your own starport! that would be pretty epic

That WILL be in the game just not at the first release, the kickstarter is there to get the money to fund the basic game so no funding no game

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-12-17-layoffs-at-elite-dangerous-developer-frontier

Elite: Dangerous developer Frontier has made a number of staff redundant, Eurogamer can reveal.

Last week 14 of the 233 staff at the Cambridge-based studio were let go across a number of disciplines, including art, animation and audio.

Confirming the layoffs to Eurogamer today, Frontier managing director David Walsh said they were the result of “the changing mix of skills requirements for our current and future projects”, which, he insisted, "remain healthy".

Eurogamer understands the affected staff were told they were being let go at 6pm on Friday 14th December - 11 days before Christmas.

I have massively funded this game, and have high hopes, even if it is pants at least I will know what has been, not could have been :)

Stelly

What's 'sad' about it? A fairly well-off company that makes 14 people unemployed 11 days before Christmas for no other reason than sheer greed, all the while begging for money from the community under the pretense of artistic patronage?

If there was ever any temptation to support this Kickstarter, it's gone now.

With this completely heartless act by Braben together with past remarks of his, he doesn't deserve the benefit of anyone's doubt.

Lame :(
