If you were a Kickstarted backer (oh how I wish now that I had been) then you get a greater number of starting ship and location options.

Threw a fair bit of money at it as a backer and barely even played it :S don't really want to put too much time into it without a proper setup and don't have the time at the moment to get properly setup for it.

Given how few internal slots actually get used up on most ships, that wouldn't be enough of a drawback, IMO, for either FdL or Vulture.

You need to balance reward with risk, else you just create a single go-to ship that trumps all the others. If the Vulture wasn't just a little bit awkward, we'd all be flying one and things like the Asp and Python wouldn't even get a look in!

I partly agree with you ... don't want the FDL ( or Vulture ) to be too powerful, where you can fit the best gear with impunity. That said, I still think the FDL is slightly underpowered. At the moment too many sacrifices have to be made to make it work. Or let me put it this way ... if it stays in its current configuration it shouldn't be priced at 50+million credits.

Does anyone else have the following issue:

Recently I have been fighting in the lugh conflict zones. When I first enter and begin to fight the game is fine, but the longer I am in the zone the more jerky the game becomes (not lag) but huge frame drops. Now initially I thought this might be gfx card limitations but I dropped all settings to as low as possible and the same gradual degradation happened. What is weirder is, if I then leave the zone the game continues to be jerky until I try to dock at a station at which point the second I fly through the slot the game freezes. I have tried dropping to menu after leaving the zone but it still freezes at the station, the only way to fix it appears to be to close the game fully then re-open.

Any ideas???

Another "anyone else having the following issue":

Tried wings for the first time last night, when one of my buddies joins my fps drops to 40. When he is in FDL it drops to 18 then back to 40 when he drops back to super cruise. Tried with 2 different friends, they are ok in the wing but when he joins they get the same issue of dropping fps. Anyone else seen that?

I have a Python but am now sold on the Vulture for combat - OK, it takes longer to kill things... Due to 3 less weapons. (3 x C3 Pulse vs 2 x C3 Pulse, one C3 Burst, 2x C2 MC's)

But with 5C Thrusters it is still WAY more agile than the Python... 2 x Shield boosters + 5A shields means 2 pips to shields and they practically never drop.

I noticed that I have stutters now after re-installing.

I thought it might have been because I have had to underclock my GPU in order to jump to hyperspace. However I set it back to stock and it is still stuttering.

I have checked both my GPU and CPU usages and there is no discernible over usage in either. However I can see the frame rate stutters as a reduction in FPS as reported by AB, from a constant 60 fps down to 20....
There was ab update yesterday.

What is your Spec?
and what are your GPU and CPU usages?

Have the same Python and a Vulture and loving the Vulture for combat, loads of fun.

Decided to upgrade the flight stick from the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X ( which for the price i think if fantastic) to the Saitek Pro Flight X-55 , hope its well worth the extra, reviews see to be all positive.

My specs are:
I5 2500k
R9 290
8gb ram
Win 8.1

At no other point in the game does it become jerky even in combat zones CPU usage doesn't go beyond 50-60%. I haven't looked at the gfx usage because of how the game reacts after I leave the zone, ie. Freeze upon entering station. It is a very strange issue. Not huge as it doesn't take long to leave the zone and then close the game and reopen...would just prefer not to have to. Plus fighting with the game so jerky is not the easiest.... Lukily I hunt condas so they are easy to hit!

Is this in Multiplayer or Solo?

Interesting. I always assumed they were just some kind of mining thing.
They are, for the most part.
However, in order to collect lots of ore, you need a big ship.
This generally means a freighter, which is easy pickings for a pirate.
Along come pirates, which then bring cops and bounty hunters and hey-presto - You're now working Security for the miners.

Saitek Pro Flight X-55 , hope its well worth the extra, reviews see to be all positive.
Check out some of the owner comments.
Customer support is quite nice, but a lot of people reporting problems, especially on the stick twist.
IMO you'd be better off spending the extra £20-30 for a CH Products setup or going the whole hog on a Warthog.

I was an owner of an X55 for 20 minutes, awful. I should have taken heed of all the user reviews beforehand (which were far from mostly positive).

Gawd dont say that lol, guess i was reading the wrong reviews then. Ill give it a shot see if i can cope haha... I would like to think coming from the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X it should be a step up !

You might get lucky but tbh even if it didn't have the faults with it, I still didn't get on with it.
I got a T16000m in the end, quality was way above the Saitek and only £30, I got bored of Elite before I invested in a CH Pro Throttle but that's the combo I was heading for.

Found my 1st undiscovered Earth Like World.

I would not worry too much I've had my X52 since it was realeased never had any issues with it, still works perfectly & if you take the time to search there are plenty of game specific profiles to make setup for each far easier.

All of my issues have been in solo mode.

Regarding the x55 I went for the x52 pro myself as reports tended to be more encouraging. From what I read the x55 seems to have a high failure rate plus the throttle is very stiff! That being said these thoughts are based on read in peoples reviews.

Well the Thrustmaster T-Flight throttle has no resistance what so ever and is something that bugs me, so i hope once i have worn in the x55 throttle that wont be an issue, Fingers crossed reliability will be ok and i get a good model. I will post back my findings once i have had a play sometime next week . Jjust the number of buttons alone would be welcome. The number of times i have trashed a ship in to the back of the station cause i have hit the wrong button combo on the sick i have now is unreal !! lol at least with the two ships i have now if i do trigger boost in error i know i can ramp up the shields and do want i can to scrub off any speed and ill survive. oops me :(
