I might go over and watch the gank fest at Godel ring in Ededleen.
Something tells me I won't be participating in this one... :p

Just finished my 4th day with Elite. Today I concentrated more on bounty hunting which is what I enjoy most at the moment. Made 800k in a couple of hours. Spent it all on upgrading my viper :D

Where are the best places to bounty hunt? So far best I see is refineries.

I suggest going to a resource extraction site (look for a gas giant with metal rich rings). If it's all sidewinders and eagles, go out and come back. If you get anacondas and clippers etc, then you're in for some big money.

I finally got my clipper :)

You know, that's what I meant when I said refinery last night, was too tired and confused. Lol. I went into one resource extraction site, was mainly smaller ships, went back after a while to re-arm and collect bounty. When I came back there were many anacondas, though their bounty was lower than usual.

Took me way longer than it should, but completed my first mission of retrieving data for 703 credits. I had no idea how to complete them, search for systems etc. But it's done now :)

Currently searching for a system to buy grain from for the Gidzenko ring (I think it is)

Folks I don't understand how to find good bounties. Are you saying that you need to find a gas giant with metal rich rings in Galaxy map?

Is there no global search in elite to find these automatically or is it a case of going system by system tediously is the galaxy map?

Yeah, that's how I got most money from it. Otherwise you look for weak or strong signals etc and there is no guarantee if ships there will be wanted. Spent to much time on that. Though I did help kill a anaconda netting 170k credits from a signal source. The anacondas I was pwning with my viper last night were only giving 80k cr :(

It is easy to gas giants with rings. Go Galaxy map and click a solar system and view its data. It will show you images of what planets are present in the system. Probably there is a website that does what you want, I know there is one for trading.

Next I will save up for a type 6 transporter and kit it out. Probably 3-4 hours of bounty hunting should do it. Will keep my viper so I can swap ships for when I want to bounty hunt. Don't think I would do much trading though, as I get the feeling it will feel more like a chore than fun after a while. Where as owning anacondas won't be getting old any time soon for me :D

What TNA said.

Also you can go and loiter near a nav beacon.

I was doing the extraction site bounties for a week or so and managed to get 20 million credits but then fell out of favour with a faction and could not stay. They insisted on attacking me with a clean status. so I had to move on.

Now I am back at Cleve Hub in the Eravate system and sticking around Nav beacons. I made 750k last night from bounties in about 3 hours.
However, this included a few Anoconda's and a poor Fer=de-lance that hit a system ship and had a bounty of 160 credits :(

I will be back there later this evening when my sight is better.

Also the weak signals is a good way. However be aware you might find that whilst you are looking at cargo, other ships will also drop out of super cruise. I was ambushed by three anaconda's and left drifting in space...

I can't decide whether to get a viper or cobra, been doing some trading but might do a bit of bounty hunting as well.

I am new to the game and not tried the cobra yet, but I think it is better to have the viper for your bounty hunting needs. Won't take long and you will have the money for a T6 for your trading needs. At least you can do proper trading then.

Remember, the journey is the fun part, I kind of wish I spent more than a day 2 days with my sidewinder and only a day with the eagle. I think when I get more credits at some pointy I will buy and kit those out before I move on to the really expensive stuff.

Ive just started exploring now, feel free to add me if anyone else is exploring to pass time, name is Maun :)

Just got back from a 60,000 Ly round trip to Sagittarius A* via a few off-the-beaten-track nebula, 21 million up so far and still have what feels like thousands of systems to sell... doing wonders for my Empire reputation as well :D

Very nice!

I'm currently 29k ly out, scanning black holes and neutron stars for some extra credits before I start the journey back home. Bet it feels strange to be back in inhabited space again huh? :p

You're not wrong! Those first few hours nipping between bases selling data were a little uncomfortable too, always worried about interdictions.

Docking feels weird!
