Paste it in there.

Also to prevent it losing binds when a heasdet removed, make a copy of the Custom.binds file and name it something sensible.

The physical copy of my game arrived this morning - nice box with "Backers Edition" accross the front, physical box and the novel along with my Polo Shirt (in the correct size) and a pin.
Little note inside, personalised to the point where it has your name on it - so along with the choice of Polo shirt it must have been a bit of a logistics nightmare getting all those sorted out, correctly.
I know - don't need the physical stuff, but it all feels even more real now and something to show for my cash :)

Gimbals have *partial* tracking, kinda like a soft target lock, so you may still need to move the ship a bit, to bring the reticles onto the target and even then they will sometimes lose their 'lock'. Got to really keep a watchful eye to make sure they don't slip and accidentally hit a Police ship!
However, while they only fire when you pull the trigger, they mostly just track within line of sight and do less damage than fixed.

I generally prefer flying with gimbals.

Guns wise I'd go for a C1&C2 pulse laser on one side and then on the other side C1&C2 multi-canon. I found that better for me than going for 2 of both the same class. How many credits do you have?

Would be mine for BH.

I'm intrigued by the C1 and C2 mix of multi-cannon and pulse lase.

But to be honest I've always been confused by the rating/class of weapons in ED.

My current weapon mix in my Cobra is:

Medium mounts:
Beam Laser - Rating E; Class 1 (fixed)
Beam Laser - Rating D; Class 2 (fixed)

Small mounts:
Multi-cannon: Rating G; Class 1 (gimble)
Multi-cannon: Rating G; Class 1 (gimble)

I appreciate that that's a bit of a noob weap load-out, and pulse lasers seem to be the weapon of choice. But I simply don't understand the various classifications for weapons.

Should lasers be gimbled too? Are pulse better than beam?

Any recommendations would be welcome...

Well I just had my first major balls up in this game :( Bought a hauler to try and make some quick cash, loaded it up with 180,000 credits worth of goods, travelled 35 light years away, cruised in to dock at my ddestination, lined up the landing pad and instead of dropping the landing gear I boosted straight into the terminal and exploded into a million pieces...

On the plus side I bought a Viper and managed to take out an Anaconda which netted me 160,000 credits in bounties.

indications are now it wont be until 2016. I do not know if i would wait to be honest. Vive is coming out towards the end of the year, I am not sure at all how it will handle seated experiences like this but the potential is amazing. Imagine standing in a space station and being able to walk around!

I often think ill sell my DK2 and concentrate on 2d games again because i have so many to get through, but then i have a go on DCS or Elite and change my mind. The unit should be seeing more action on ebay towards the summer so if you want to pick up a relatively cheap one id wait until then - although if money is not *too* much of an object and youre fully aware of the shortcomings, id get one now. Youll get at least 9 months out of it, and if they price the Vive closer to the £600 region, probably more.

I'm so behind the times with all this gear. Now you have me looking at Vive, maybe I'll wait a little. That Vive looks good too and out possibly this year.
Thanks for the info.:)

Hahahahahaha... That must have hurt. Lol. I did that once so far, straight away I mapped landing gear to a completely different button on my hotas, won't be happening again. Lucky for me it was on my first day of playing and I still had a sidewinder.

I took out a viper when I had my eagle, though it was with help from other npc's. Tried to do it 1v1 with my viper yesterday, it did not go well. The anaconda was rated dangerous and had loads of weapons, I managed to drop its shields and get it down to around 70% before having to get the hell out of there. Lol.

Oh and another funny thing happened to me yesterday while bounty hunting, went after a wing of sidewinders, was low on armour, but did not think they would get through my shields. Well they did, and they took out my engines... I was left floating in space, they did not bother finishing me and left. I did a quick Google to see if there is anything that can be done. Everywhere said you are dead, just self destruct. When I went to do so I found the repair/reboot button, it worked!!! :D

Is it better to buy a new ship outright, part-exchange your old ship with all its upgrades, or strip out and sell all your upgrades on old ship before part-exchanging it?

I have 150K cash and I think it is around 250K tied up in current Sidewinder upgrades, I could buy a Viper but I think that would leave me struggling to upgrade it so I have decided to buy an Adder so I can still have fun in combat and keep increasing my trading profits hopefully.

Just go for the viper. You'll be swapping out to a Cobra before you know it so you might as well enjoy the viper's insane combat ability.

Selling up your modules is best.

@Weyland, Under the Misc section in controls, look for "debug camera" and assign it a key. Press it to enable it, then use the flight controls to control the camera. Press it again to disable and return to cockpit.

I dunno what the he'll I was thinking, my landing gear is mapped to the joystick and my boost to the throttle so it must have just been a large brain fart!
