I have a feeling F10 takes screenshots.

And I think the Asp was classed as an explorers ship due to it's jump capabilites. you can pick them up for around 6mil, but you'll probably need a few mill for the FSD and power plant upgrades.

yup the A class FSD and Power Plant will set you back 5.1m a pop!

My Asp is worth 22.4m with its upgrades.

500 light years out and finding new systems no one has mapped before :D

Mind you I did just find one with 91 (!) astronomical bodies in it. That took AGES to fully map.

91.... sweet Mother.

Anyway: two questions:

1. How do you take a screen shot? I was sat between 2 stars in incredibly close orbit and it looked really smart from the outside view but I couldn't get a photo :(

2. Is there anyway of finding out the worth of your explorations before going back? I've done quite a few systems now and intend going out a 1000 ly (in a Cobra... it's a slog) but am thinking that it might be worth going back if I can afford a better ship already (although I kind of doubt it) 4MCr in the bank at the moment.

91.....

Lucky bugger, I went out double that and where ever I jumped it was all discovered by someone else already, so I got bored and gave up. lol

I've found some half discovered - like someone missed half the planets in the system.

I just picked a random direction which was near nothing interesting as I figured people would head towards interestingly named places or the centre of the Galaxy. Seems to be working so far but my God it is a grind.

Yep. That is why I just turned back around. Wish somehow they made it more fun. Only time I would find it fun would be doing it with someone else and chatting while doing so. I mean I know I would love to explore space in real life, but this just feels like a complete waste of time. Lol

Oh Elite, why do you tease me so?

Dropped into a completely new trinary system with what looked like 2 Earth like planets in orbit around the 3rd (M class) Sun. dammit... They were Carbon Dioxide atmosphere.

650 LY out now. (Oh and STILL see the odd ship)

There are vast, vast swathes of undiscovered space out there; less than 0.1% of the galaxy has been discovered! I've only seen one explored system in my last three thousand jumps, and that explored system was Sagittarius A* :)

Exploring depends a lot on your mindset; most of the time I find it relaxing with the occasional bit of excitement thrown in, if it starts to become a grind then I'll log off for a while and come back once I'm back in the mood.

There are some great sights out there though, here are two I discovered this afternoon:

Contact binary, toasty!

Hi all. I can't wait for the added content to start getting put in. You know things like walking around the ships and that.
But I was wondering if the redundancies in January this year at FD and the closing down of the Canadian arm, if that is likely to hinder the progression.
They have also talked about the fact they want to concentrate on Coaster Tycoon & the other one, can't remember off hand what it is, fun fair tycoon or something. Or whatever those titles are.

What are players thoughts on it, do you think we will get the content they talked about, or does it look in doubt ?
This is not digging at FD, ED is great, but I would really like the extra content to start filtering through, or at least see it being talked about in the newsletters.

So in all this exploring, are there any habitated worlds? Any sign of extra-terrestrial life? Would be awesome of they wrote on entirely random elements and planets that contain life, although maybe not technologically advanced worlds.

Could someone remind me how bounty hunting works?

I picked an independant anarchy system, headed to the Nav beacon and started warrant scanning ships ,killing anything that had a bounty in the contacts lists. If a ship comes up as clean on the left panel of the main screen, but has a bounty in the contacts list i am incurring a bounty myself when i kill it.

I thought the whole thing about anarchy systems was that you could kill anything with impunity and not incur bounties?

Yeah that should be the case. If it's an anarchy system (keep in mind some star ports may be anarchy in an alliance system) then you can kill whoever you want. I find it easier to just kill wanted ships in other systems though

That worked thanks!

Wow. Bitmap. 10.5Mb each....

If you want a mega 4K screenshot at over 100mb, press left ALT+F10 in game... you'll be surprised how good it looks. The game will pause briefly when you take one of these, so nothing to worry about. Try it on a station approach or while in a station, and you'll be blown away by the detail. Coupled with debug external camera mode, you can get some amazing shots. :)
