IIRC some backers should get their hands on it from around Feb 2014? full public release sometime after that. So far its looking promising - I think some people are expecting a bit much for the initial release tho, just isn't enough time to deliver on everything they've promised but given time I think they will make a really good game. The attention to details and the way they are exploring different options to try and get the essence of various features right shows a lot of promise for something thats not just another run of the mill game.

If they are going with the concept they outlined initially you will be able to adjust the scope of who you are playing with - possibly dynamically in real time so you can be completely alone, playing with friends or playing with a large number of random people.
 
I love the way Braben & co. talk about this with such passion and interest.

It's inspirational to see Elite coming back like this.
 
I agree with Jokester the DDF is ticking along wonderfully, I'm enjoying contributing.

I will be setting up a Elite server for a small group of overclocker forum users, I might limit it to a certian requirement :)

Quality of the print isn't great sadly.
 
I got my signed print a couple of days ago which is now proudly framed and on the wall. The quality isn't amazing but after hearing how rubbish the mugs were I'm more than pleased. I was half expecting them to be printed on a £30 Epson with banding lines all the way through :D

I have to say after the first couple of weeks in DDF with the overwhelming number of posts it took away all my energy and enthusiasm and I haven't been back since. It was too much of a chore to keep up with it.

Does anyone have a suggestion how I can quickly get up to speed with developments? Is there a summary of all the little snippets of information from devs that get buried away in the busy threads?
 
It says they're going up on the website but they wanted backers to see them first. Not sure when they'll be public though.

Just occurred to me that I haven't reserved my commander name. Shame I've no head for good names...
