lol had my first succesful PvP today, was in my nearby system and was hopping belts looking for destroyers to kill and noticed a player in a caracl, he locked me and I returned the favour and watched him warp out, so I followed and I chased him through the belts for 15 minutes or so until he switched tactics and started warping 40km out.
Fearing being engaged from long range and not being able to defend myself I changed to his tactics and managed to keep <20km from him where by eventually he fired on me.
I didn't mention what setup I had or my ship, but it so happened I was in my Rifter setup for pvp

well I took a barrage of heavy missiles at the start as I closed, and loaded emp ammo and scrambled/webbed him.
From then on we were locked in mortal combat, the caracal had the advantage in having a drone bay and a bigger tank.
However I had the advantage of small sig radius and speed.
Well the fight lasted a long time, it took an age to take down his shield tank but down it went, and I realised my mistake - I forgot to pack fusion S
So once his shield went down I left one gun with EMP and loaded titanium sabot in the other 2 guns. At this point he switched to havos which were doing a bit too much damage than I could indefinitely tank. So I was on the edge of losing my cap, I was bursting my repper. I was taking lots of armour damage and there we were. I was down to structure, my repper struggling to cope. My ship was losing life support and secondary systems were failing.
Thankfully, the Caracal was just as wounded - he was leaking plasma and his reaction drives was intermittent easing the strain on my webifier. We were both down to our hulls, but my repper was somehow still functional, I was leaching just enough energy from the hostile ship to keep it runnin in bursts. But inexorably I was losing structural integrity.
65% hull ... 50% hull - but so was the Caracal!!! Come on, 35% hull another round of heavy missiles ... 18% hull!!! BUt I had almost ruptired his warp core, another few hits .... BOOM!
1-2 seconds before he could launch the final salvo of heavies at me he exploded!!! debris battering my already fragile hull, but the final round of armour repaired managed to shield the vital systems that underlay it just enough to see me retain enough strctural integrity to safely warp and dock up.
Anyway
it was a fun fight, he convo'd me congratulated me, we exchanged pleasantries, and he was rather surprised to hear that I left all his stuff for him in his can
It was my first successful pvp experience, albeit I didnt choose the fight
