The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Of topic a bit here but if you think eve is bad, you should have been around for games like MIR lol.. not only is killing players allowed, it was an art, you died, dropped items from your back pack and maybe items you wear wearing and like in eve, anyone can pick them up lol.. you also lost xp so dropping a lvl was not unheard of lol.

Made PvP like eve, alittle more risky but enjoyable. After games like that, most others seem a little tame...

I can't remember losing XP and i played for 5 years
It was a dog eat dog world though! My mate saw an Apex member get owned by an archer guard after accidentaly hitting it and picked up his Dragon Slayer that he dropped so Apex managed to get hold of his account details some how and hacked his account and got it back lol!

KK, the Industrial ship skill does give you a bigger cargo, when flying an industrial ship... it has no benefits when you fly a Frigate, Barge or any other type of ship... (unless specifically mentioned in the Description of that ship)

They brought it in specifically for the T3 stuff - if you die flying a T3 ship, you'll loose one random rank of T3 skills relating to that ship.

Doesn't bother me, I probably won't even SEE a T3 ship for a year or two, never mind fly one :p

What Xenoxide says is spot on if you want to stick within the Caldari standard ships, personally, im more interested in the faction vessels. :)

A bit more difficult then...only one I can think of for Caldari that is remotely rails/blaster related is the Hookbill, but that's mainly for L1's and MAYBE L2's, and is mostly interchangeable with the Merlin.

The other's I can think of are mainly missile boats (Raven Navy Issue, Caracal Navy Issue) or industrials (Osprey Navy Issue).

Could be mistaken on these though, not exactly my specialty. :)

I think ccp might change this when more people starting moaning :D

I know that (obviously still not coming across how I wanted..)

To to increase cargo capacity of an industrial ship you train up the industrial ship skill.. Easy.. Exactly what I did..

So I buy the mining ship and train up the relevant mining ship skill but the cargo space of the mining ship did not change ???
I expected, as the skill at flying that ship increased, the ability to hold more cargo would be part of that, as per the indy.

Ahh... Just figured out why now I've bothered to look, indy has special ability bonus for cargo increase per skill level..
Miner doesn't.

No. Every type of ship has a skill. The particular ship you are flying in that type will react to the skill a different way.

So for the industrials, the when you are flying a badger the related skill increases the cargohold capacity. When flying a drake, the related skill increases shield resistances. And when you're flying a rokh, the skill affects the railgun bonuses.

I believe the retrievers skill (Mining Barge) affects the mining yield.

You can check what each ship gets from it's skill by looking at the description.

Someone please explain the market system to me ..

When you sell something, you are fulfilling buy orders right? If i sell something in that station and it has a buy order, i sell to that person at that price?

Not necessarily. When you sell something you can either put your own price on it (usually recommended) & it will sit on the market at that particular staion until someone buys it. They can purchase it from anywhere in the region but will have to go to that station to collect it.
You can also sell something by fullfilling someones buy order & I think this is the default price that appears when you click on sell an item. This isn't really recommend unless you are familiar with that particular items price.
Quite often around mission hubs folks will place buy orders below the actual mineral value of an item and others will be silly enough to fill there orders.

If i try and sell something in that station that doesn't have a buy order, it sells at the regional average and to the buyers highlighted in green, which means they're in the jump range they've set?

If a buy order is highlighted green it basically means you are within the distance range that person creating the order has set. Depending on your skills a buy order can be set for station, system, 2 jumps, 3 jumps etc.. & at full skills you can set a buy order for the entire region but then you have the pain of going round collecting the items.

So when i sell something that doesn't have a buyer in that station, where does the stuff go to

If there are currently no buy orders, although there usually are as someone will have set up a buy order for a ridicously low price then I think your item will go onto the market at regional value. Regional value isn't a very accurate way of calculating an items actual value so don't be swayed by it.

Haven't played with the market in ages so if there's something not right someone jump in and correct me.

On the topic of the EVE Market, could someone please explain this to me:

I'm confused about the whole remote buy/sell order system.

Say for example I'm sitting at a station in Jita. I place a remote buy order for 100 units of missiles from a station 2 jumps away. Am I then able to sell those missiles at a third location, without ever actually leaving Jita (assuming I have the correct skills)?

I've read examples of players buying up smaller orders of a particular unit from surrounding systems, so they can meet a much larger buy order.

No, you would have to move the items to the station you wish to sell them at.

Newb questions, can you buy n leave a ship in a station for month??? And the same with cargo holds? If my ship gets blown up i dont want lose it all. Bit like in Oblivion when you brought a house and put stuff in chests.

if you put your stuff in your cargo hold... inside a can, if it ever goes pop then your stuff survives.
You can leave ships wherever you like, you can even climb out of them in space now and they don't go pop..
Although don't expect a ship left in space to still be there when you get back :D
in Station it's quite safe and no one can nick it.

Once you've bought a ship, it will sit in station until you collect it or sell it on, there's no time limit.
