That's what basically Hendricks did in the 5th ;) Led on him for the best part of the round to pickup the win.

Not sure I'd agree with that! Hendricks corner basically told him he needed to win the round (if only they'd told him that between the 4th & 5th rounds against GSP!) and that's what he did!

He came out with some solid shots that shook Lawler and in truth I was screaming for him to KO Lawler but in reality that takedown was the smartest move he could have pulled to win the title!

Nick diaz has said he is ready to fight now......

Gotta love Diaz :D Loses 2 title fights on the trot, fails a drugs test, throws his toys out of the pram and "retires" and then expects to walk back into a 3rd straight title fight just because he thinks he's the only welterweight worth watching! :D

A Diaz vs Lawler rematch would be awesome, if Diaz wins he gets the title shot.

Much as Diaz is entertaining (and he really is!) he's done absolutely nothing to justify a title shot imo, even if he fought Lawler and won!

Just because he's got a big mouth shouldn't mean he jumps ahead of other guys building a decent win/loss ratio!

Of course Diaz usually means $$$ for Dana so I wouldn't be surprised if he did just walk back into title contention!!

Is BT Sports the only place to get UFC stuff nowadays? I used to have ESPN but when they lost the UFC contract I stopped watching it :-/

If you get a vpn you can watch it on Ufc.tv I normally watch through a Dutch vpn so it's cheaper than UK prices. It's absolutely ridiculous they are trying to grow the sport and they have restricted us to BT sport. I used to be able to use Ufc.tv without the vpn when it was on ESPN. But with the BT contract Ufc is only available through them, I know a few people that have stopped watching altogether.

Out of interest, who would you rank worthy of getting the next few shots?

Other than his KO win over Koscheck, who's on the tail end of his career, and a fortunate win over Condit he's not really proved much. McDonald got beaten decisively by Lawler, Maia got beaten by McDonald. The only guy other than Diaz I'd like to see fight Hendricks is Matt Brown, if he gets through Silva in May. He's won 6 straight, with 5 by stoppage and if he gets through Silva, which I believe he will, that'll be 7 in a row.

Not sure about Brown, he hasn't beaten anyone of any merit in those 6 wins. Even if he beats Silva, he still hasn't faced or beaten a top 10 guy. Win streaks are one thing, but they have to be against guys that are in contention if he is going to get a title shot.

Diaz is coming off 2 losses, so no way does he deserve any sort of title shot.

Anyone not coming off 2 straight losses, a failed drugs test and a "retirement" to be honest!

Diaz has beaten one guy since coming back to the UFC, BJ Penn, who with the best will in the world has his best days behind him (and had 1 win in 4 going into the Diaz fight!)

For me I'd like to see MacDonald, Woodley, Brown and Kim get a shot before Diaz!

arguably the #1 contender in Condit.

Diaz is coming off 2 losses, so no way does he deserve any sort of title shot.

How can you call Condit #1 contender with 3 losses in his last 4 and the win was against a non contender, then rule out Diaz who has had two decision losses against the best guys at the time?

Now I agree Condit is arguably #1 contender, but that logic puts Diaz up there too.

I meant that Woodley beat the #1 contender at that time, I wouldn't consider him to be #1 after that defeat.

However, Condit has beaten far better competition than Diaz (including beating Diaz) and his loss to Hendricks was razor close. Both lost reasonably comfortably to GSP, but beating the likes of Kim etc all go in his favour. I wouldn't personally call Kampmann a non contender either.

Who has Diaz beaten of any note in his last 10 fights? BJ (a 155'er)?

I think GSP leaving was great... give the division the breathing space for change and new faces and contenders.

Who would have ever imagined robbie lawler 1 take down away from almost wearing ufc gold around his waist, hendricks is a great champ but I think Rory, lombard, woodley just made it "interesting" and lawler still in the mix.

Shields, condit, brown, ellenberger, kim and plenty in the mix here, all want that shot and belt since gsp is gone with his lay n pray win system.

When GSP returns.... it will be fireworks :)

lombard in no way deserves to even fight in the UFC, i understand no one can put shields away, but my god did he anti fight to the point i wanted lombard of my screen for good.

Out of interest has anybody been watching TUF Brazil? Considered signing up to UFC Fight Pass just to watch Sonnen's antics.

On the GSP returning topic - he's pretty much confirmed one of his reasons for leaving was the UFC's policy on drugs testing and that he wouldn't consider returning until they accepted more stringent tests.

Wow, extremely late stoppage at Bellator last night. Took a full 10 seconds worth of unnecessary damage.

Disgusting, the ref should never officiate again; the dude was basically out on his feet, as soon as he head planted into the canvas the fight should have been over.
