Just the Struve fight left before my main event fight. Come on Big Country! Pretty average card so far. Not much blood, takedowns or connections really. Miguel Torres moves like an eel though, thought that could have gone either way.

Although Nelson is looking a bit queer with his pig tails.

Pretty damn poor all round tbh nothing to write home about at all.

Torres fight was cool it was like a training video! Lots transitions, escapes, guards.
Nelson is laughable really can't stand the dude but he can take a punch.
Struve was looking ok until that superman punch then he folded like a deck chair.
Hamil o dear o dear those take downs, really? I think I could have stopped them absolutely pathetic and his stand up is just shocking! Think Rampage was bit cage rusty and not quite the cardio needed to finish but got close. O just read that Rampage had fractured his hand not long ago as well?
That Stann bloke is it? He looks decent though pretty brutal stand up looks comfortable.

Mir has a broken jaw and rib :o

it was a poor card, but tbh they need to take all the good fighters from strikeforce and stick them in UFC, then all the smaller promotions and fights get put on strikeforce and all the bigger ones on UFC.

a bit like strikeforce becoming mini leagues and UFC the big leagues. if you lose 3 fights in a row or 3 out of 5, you get put straight into the mini leagues.

Well the fighters have contracts with strike force that need to be seen out first I assume which is why its business as usual for now.

Strike force is on again in about 3 weeks with that 'grand prix' which isn't much of one now with how far apart its spaced.

Also Fedor vs Henderson has been signed hasn't it?

I would be inclined to believe something direct from the source

My jaws fine, but my knees sure hurt!

His jaw isn't broken he already knew that but they made him go cuz he was complaining about his bite

Rampage said he had a fractured hand also....

Yeah pretty poor UFC event, no major knock outs of thrilling moments.... it obviously had some potential with a lot of good guys but it just didnt roll that way in the end, now if the main event had not been canned it would have been something else :)

Dana white has said he was actually didnt like Mir and roy gassing out so quickly but he did later change his mind and said Mir did a good job, but both the top 2 events left a bad taste in his mouth.

Rampage if his hand heals he gets jon jones and if his hand doesnt heal in time its machida ! either one would be a great match up and very interesting...

Anyhow not this weekend but the following Sat we see JDS vs Carwin :)

We also have the ultimate fighter finale next weekend, main even is Guida v Pettis, does anyone know if this will be shown in the uk?

Much more interested to see Machida vs Jones, Rampage doesn't want it enough. He is too slow and has nothing if he gets put on his back.

Machida on the other hand, he is fast elusive, will punish Jones if he misses with strikes. An has a decent submission game if he is put on his back.

Either of them could knock Jones out, but I think Machida has a better chance of doing so.

i think rampages best years are behind him, i dont think he is any match for jones. he is also too 1 dimensional. his last few fights have been poor and nothing like the old rampage.

machida got owned by shogun and shogun got owned by jones, i know that styles make the fight, so anything could happen but the odds are in jones's favour.

jones has got toothpicks for legs, i think that is the best way to beat him, leg kicks. but then you have to be wary of takedowns, something which is easy to do if the opponent keeps throwing leg kicks.

jones also has a weak punching game imo, thats why he likes to throw elbows instead. if machida can stay away he has a chance, but the fight will get close at times and its how he deals with it that will count.

machida has the best chance of beating him, so long as steven seagal keeps on teaching him leg kicks, etc.

Mir managed to beat Lesnar, I dont see what Roy has to offer apart from sitting on him.

Hmmmm, I'll agree with you that Mir did beat Lesnar..... but I dont think you could look at either fight and say that Mir deserved to get anything at all!!

Dont get me wrong, Big Country was never in this fight and Mir looked pretty good but he does seem to stall against the top tier of the (super) heavyweight division imo!

He's probably overjoyed that Lesnar has his diverticulitis again - means he has a shot at the title again! (although Cain would batter him senseless imo)

Was it me or did Frank Mir pack some major upper body muscle, he looks massive compared to against Crocop only few months ago !

What was he doing eating Vegatable shakes every 5 minutes ?!

Mir looked massive even up against Roy nelson, he was almost throwing around that big belly around the ring...

Im not surprised Mir gassed out quite quickly amost reminds me how Brock and Carwin fight, come to think about it he looks big enough to cause those 2 guys issues now!

I think JDS had the right balance his punches will come off 2-3x faster and powerful, where as Mirs or Carwins would end the fight thats if it can land.

JDS vs Cain is still a fight id love to see and I think were gonna have it, although I do like Carwins fighting style also :)

i think it's too early for Machida to fight Jones, Machidas confidence was dented pretty bad after the first fight with Shogun and after the 2nd fight there was none left. He needs a few wins to get his confidence back otherwise i see this fight going only 1 way.
