The main card was really good except the main event. How did Woodley win? Woodley had one takedown and one flurry at the end and that's it :o
Strike for strike (significant strikes) they were level and Woodley had the takedown which had Wonderboy on the floor for a large part of the round.

Neither of those would be enough on their own but it seemed like a close fight and I guess the judges took more from the final exchange :confused::confused:.

I'm not saying I don't agree with you as I thought the decision was pretty appalling but it was doubly bad considering how poor the fight was in general. I was pretty annoyed watching it.

A good card last night. Barboza with another highlight reel knockout but on the downside Vitor has got to be close to retirement. He's been competing in the UFC for 20 years and can't take a punch anymore.

I see War Machine's attempted murder trial is ongoing at the moment, some of the testimony is hard reading/viewing. Guy has always been a lunatic but he's obviously a danger to be out walking the streets, I think he will be getting sent down for a very long time.

For those who don't know, he caught his on/off porn star girlfriend in bed with some other bloke and proceeded to kick the **** out of the both of them.

Yeah he sounds like a nutter who ought to be locked up. UFC Fight Night on Saturday was a great event, some really good fights and some top knockouts.

edit: also just seen an article on BBC about the dangers of weight cuts in combat sports, but particularly MMA.

I have to agree with the article, there should be more rules surrounding weight cutting to stop fighters risking their own health. Maybe make the fighters weigh in several times in the final month before fight night to make them cut weight more gradually, that way you'd stop them dehydrating themselves. Realistically if they're having to cut 10+ lbs then they really should be fighting in the next weight class up.

Yeah I agree, as well as being dangerous for the fighters it also creates an uneven playing field where fighters who fight at their natural weight class are at a disadvantage against people who cut a lot of weight and then are able to put it back on before the fight. Someone could cut 15lbs to fight at, say, 155lbs, but then be back up to 170lbs by fight night. Their opponent might be a natural 155lbs and so the guy who's cut all the weight could have a massive size and power advantage in the fight. I don't think it's right, I think people should fight at the weight they walk around at, or within maybe a maximum 5lbs tolerance either way.

I don't see why it can't be simply that you fight at your weight. A weigh-in 4 hours before the fight or something.

If you give fighters an arbitrary weight and time to weigh-in they are going to try and create an edge by cutting as much weight possible to be the bigger man come fight night.

The suggestion of multiple weigh ins across a period of time would help but gee I don't see any organisation putting time aside for that.

Anyone off to London for the event this weekend? Not the best looking card, the main event has the potential of a real snooze fest if Anderson chooses to just lie on Manuwa for 5 rounds.

Just seen UFC212 will have Anderson Vs Gastelum on the card as well!!
