man shoulda put on the bet on hendo.... woulda made a fortune lol

he was out but recovered fast... so its gonna be a tough call but think herb made a good call, another few secs and yeah fedor may have got up and carried on... but theres always gonna be that if and but !

Watching it again, I think Fedor might of been able to defend if Herb let it go on for a few more seconds. I've seen worse beatings and the ref let it go on... for example, the Brock Lesner fight when he got rocked serveral times but no stoppage... and the Kong fight, he was out like twice but it kept on going.

Where does Fedor go from here?

In all honesty? Retirement.

He is the greatest fighter of the last decade, beyond a shadow of a doubt. His toughness is legendary, but after a while even the toughest iron gives way to the hammer, and I think the wars he has been in have started to take their toll.

He has nothing to prove, he has his legacy as the best of the first generation of MMA, now its time to move over and let the second generation have their day.

I have nothing but respect for everything Fedor has accomplished, but I dont want him to turn into another Cro Cop.

the stoppage is gonna be the talk of the mma community for this week, even rewatching it again you can see fedor completly flat out cold for a second or 2 and then he starts to turn over again.

Such a difficult call to make but was the right choice, obviously fedor says it was stopped early, his records still tops anyhow he should continue I reckon... as Dan has said many times hes had 2 and 3 losses in a row and bounced back, perhaps Fedor needs to learn not to pounce in for the kill and take a breath !

I reckon hendo needs to come back to ufc and do some damage, give him bisping his other side of his face needs attention :)

When you look at it none of Fedors losses have been that bad, a sub by Werdum who he seemed to stun and stupidly left an arm in.
He got beat by a bloody giant in Silva who lets be honest most people are going to have a problem with.
And then that loss last night probably the biggest of the 3 I would say.

Compare those losses to the likes of Cro Cop who got knocked out quite viciously a few times and its a different story.

Few sites are saying though what are his options? He has pretty much lost all bargaining power now, Dana won't take the M1 bull that comes with him or the wages he currently gets (around $1.5m for that fight!) and there are no other organisations currently big enough for him.

Scott Coker did say that was the best fight of the entire strikeforce....

I dont see Strikeforce doing well at all, they mentioned Nick Diaz is now gone to UFC to fight gsp....Scott Cokers no1 fav is now gone ! im surprised they didnt mention Overweem being cutt by Strikeforce during the show.... and now Fedor who gets a lot of cash and loosing 3 in a row doesnt help.

In essence is there any point in giving Fedor another fight or 2 ? Thats costing a lot of money, seems Strikeforce is loosing there faces and superstars that made them Strikeforce, perhaps they should just let it disolve now into ufc and let the Superfights begin :)

That will be good for us, but bad for the fighters, competition is always good, if strikeforce dissolves they will have a monopoly (they pretty much do as it is, by acquiring strikeforce), Dana White will say accept this contract or else, where else can they go to fight? The fighters are going to lose out big time.

WTF :-/ Herb Dean ****ed up there no doubt about it.

Imo, the way Fedor recovered so quickly, even when Dan was still punching him with Herb Dean trying to stop it, that to me shows there is definitely a case for it being stopped too early.

You've got to think that Herb reacts to stop the fight when Fedor is lying flat on his face, arms down getting punched in the head. He only recovers as Herb is trying to stop the fight.

Fedor was completly flat out though even if it was for 2-3 seconds, I think hendo landing 2 more to his head was almost jump starting fedor to recovery since his arms were going back and forth unaturally it was clear his body was not connected to his mind.

Nope definatly a good stoppage perhaps herb deans best yet

Nothing wrong with the stoppage imo. When Dean made the call, Fedor was spread out, looked unconscious and Henderson was landing more punches from behind that obviously couldn't be defended. Although Fedor looked like he was recovering, it was too late as the call had been made, Dean was already getting between the two fighters, he couldn't exactly have stepped away and said continue. Brilliant fight I thought, Fedor surely has to be seriously thinking about retirement now. Agree with the comments about Strikeforce, where do they go from here? Overeem gone, Fedor losing again, Nick Diaz moving to the UFC and giving up his welterweight belt, very few fights look interesting there now.

Scott coker is going to make an annoucment this week, but the early jist of it the winner of the strikeforce grand prix will be the new strikeforce heavyweight champ.

Its pretty much going to be Antonia bigfoot Silva, or Josh barnett....

I think Josh is my new favorite.... I never seen such a big guy move so fast and man handle Brett rogers, hes got some good striking and take downs/Wrestling and a good chin. I got a feeling hes gonna take out the russian next week, and then will meet Bigfoot for the finals.

It was definitely a good stoppage by Herb Dean, that uppercut from Hendo knocked Fedor out, even though he appeared to recover pretty quickly. Fedor has been a great fighter in the past but in all honesty he's washed up now, he's not even the best heavyweight in strikeforce, let alone mma generally, and it's time for him to retire.

On an unrelated note, I can't wait to see Jon Jones and Cain Velasquez back in action at UFC 135 and 139 respectively, in my opinion they are two of the most exciting fighters in MMA.

i dont think Fedor is washed up, he seems to have lost self belief maybe? i dont know, having people saying your the best and undefeated for 9 years then suffer a freak loss, then another and now another can be hugely detrimental.

people are laughing at Torres who plays for chelsea because he cost £50 million and is on huge wages, yet only scored 1 goal in 14 appearances (a shocking rate for a world class striker in a top 4 team).

although people can appear confident, sub consciously they could be thinking differently and not be aware of it. i think maybe a new coaching team or camp, could put him back on track.

Fedor is 34, Hendo is 40, i dont think Fedor should retire, but he should take a time out and come back when he is mentally ready to do so. At minimum he needs a 6 month break.
