***The Official Fifa 10 Thread***

I have just acquired this game as I need to improve my skills when playing at friend's houses.

Is there a team that is statisctically the best, that I should practice the most with?

From playing with friends so far it seems Man U/Real Madrid / Barca seem to be the strongest, but all you guys who play regularly, is there a 'best' team or is it really personal preference and how good you are with them?

Obviously if you're good you can make any team competitive, but yeah, some teams are laid out better than others. Man Utd of course (Rooney being the cover boy) are excellent all round. As you mention you can't really go wrong with Real Madrid/Barca. I'm sure they are statistically the best in terms of player ratings. My personal preferences would be: Man City as a team work brilliantly (notably Adebayor who almost seems too good), Chelsea (Drogba is more or less invincible), Everton, Stuttgart/Werder Bremen are really solid teams, Valencia, Croatia, Spain.

Those teams seem to flow best for me, that's what I prefer rather than just the team's star rating. There's no team you 'should' practice with though. Try to play games at least on 'Professional' level, preferably 'World Class', as you'll learn to keep possession much better and have better timing. If you just want to practice controlling/chipping shots or smacking in long range shots switch down to 'Semi-Pro'.

On 10 game streak on fifa 10 just played that guy was 4-1 down got it back to 4-4 and pwned him in extra time, gave him a pen because cpu bugged and gave me a pen to make it 6-4

3 goals he scored were cut backs FFS, it was a rematch, first game he was Lpool I was Everton and beat him 2-1

Seems good, can't see/feel that much difference though apart from the atmosphere and fan cut scenes. Plays well though and the captain your country mode looks like it'll be good.

Anyone know of anywhere to pre-order this for less than £38 as that's the lowest I can find...

Question for fifa 10 peeps

on fifa 09 we could play 4 player (on the same console) and just control 1player each (be a pro)

can this be achieved on fifa 10 as i could'nt work out how.

Just on the topic of the best teams, I seem to find that Barca are very good. Almost all of their players seem like they're godlike and I just finished a 10 game winning streak playing as them. I switched to Bayern Munich and then got hammered. Man Utd seem to be rubbish this year, even with Valencia and Nani they have no pace and no decent midfielders.

Just out of interest, what camera settings do you lot play with?

I've got the standard sideline camera, but I want to try the Broadcast one, so its angled from the middle like on the TV, but I think it might be harder to see things :p

Sorry to revive this, but is there a trick to scoring headers/overhead kicks? Quite a few of the accomplishments I want to do on my Be A Pro involve these, and for the life of me I can rarely score headers! Any tips?

Also, is there a way to stop your team from playing on/your player playing on when you get a free kick? Really irritating considering 2s later you lose the advantage if your team runs straight into someone else.

Edit: PS3, if it helps.

if you see the signal for possible freekick and want the free kick then stop immediately and/or run into opp player. Have to do it before the foul committed signal dissapears from screen.

Whats annoying in online pro is members of your team standing right over the ball when you try to take a freekick so it hits them.

That and a captain deliberately changing kit colour to same colour as opp team at the very last second.....i mean why!! lol.....

No idea on the overhead kick thing... as i understand it you need to have your back towards the goal to do it but whenever im in a position where it could be possible i am always forced (by the cpu) to facing goal...

Did the update for FIFA 10 on February 24th also get released for FIFA 09 on the PS3? And have there been any unofficial updates for the games to reflect transfers and kits etc?

I'm seriously sucking at scoring in any way other than 1v1. I don't play "Be a Pro" just normal games (I don't get much time to play the game anyway) and I just cannot aim it accurately enough. The ball either heads straight at the goal keeper, or wide/over. No matter how gentle/slight I am with the controls, and crosses only ever meet my players when I'm lucky :o

Not using any aiming/passing assistance

Ill be very surprised if EA are still supporting FIFA 09 with transfer updates - thats kinda why FIFA 10 exists Im afraid

Might sound a bit patronising but it's not meant to be; Do you aim for a specific player when crossing, or do you just aim for an area rather than a specific man? I used to aim for an area and it was a bit hit and miss but after aiming for the player my crosses have dramatically improved in club. In the normal head to head modes try and use players who will have the best crossing statistics as well. Sounds a little obvious but the wingers usually have the best crossing stats and are much more likely to be able to pick out a man in the box.

As for scoring goals from the cross, you'll usually find if the player who's received the cross is in a good position he will usually score. Holding the analogue stick to the direction of the ground while heading helps me, as does holding R1 when performing a header. Otherwise mine all end up going high.

How do you aim for the ground? Away from goal?

I do aim for a specific player, but seriously, even slightly off target and the ball will go either straight off for a goal kick, or outside of the penalty box/toward the halfway line. And I'm not joking that I'm using slight adjustments on my analogue stick. :)
