***The Official Fifa 10 Thread***

yeah i need something with attack, i just can't seem to get past my two house mates flat back four with 2 strikers, even using the 'one - two' i rarely find the player who makes the first pass getting past there defenders on the run if you know what i mean

if im playing as Arsenal its usually their default form. With the 3 up front. With Arshavin and Walcott able to run at defenders at pace.

If its Scotland its 4 -1 -2 -1-2 (ie one DM and one CAM)

It depends on the team you are playing against. I remember on 09 as Brazil i could counter Spain and usually beat them (online) if i changed to 4-2-3-1 (2 DM)

I requested for this to be merged into here btw guys.

Too many threads being created abotu FIFA when we have a massive thread here to discuss it :)

I use 4-1-2-1-2 but with changes. Unfortunately if I try editing my formation and saving it the game crashes, so I'm a bit stuck until I delete my FIFA profile but then my BAP player gets deleted too. So annoying.

I'm playing a 4231 with Crewe Alexandra and it's working well for me, I haven't gone too much into the customisation because I have read of people having similar problems to Andybtsn.

I haven't researched it much, so when they save an edited formation the 360 freezes?

The same occurs when trying to play with two people on one 360. Poor show from EA tbh. Need to rectify this asap.

Did you try what i suggested in the other thread Andy ? Try installing the game to the Xbox HDD.

It probably wont make any difference but worth a go.

Yeah I did mate, installed it straight away. I can fix the issue (for the time being) by deleting my FIFA profile but there is no way I'm losing my VP again. EA should have put your VP player as a seperate saved profile like they do with manager mode, lounge mode etc.

Sorry if this has been discussed before (59 page thread hey), but does anybody else suffer issues with the offside rule on this on Xbox Live matches.

I'll admit I am not the best player. I'm the one who can string 20+ passes together, lob through balls accross the width of the pitch and round the keeper before hitting it yards over the bar. Defensively I'm the one that gets outmuscled by the game's multitude of strikers with tackling so good it makes Maldini look like a schoolboy.

I have only played about 6 head to heads against randoms, conceding about 13-14 goals, 4 of which have been from an identical offside move, or it is in my understanding of the rule at least. 2 opposition players alone with the keeper, both way ahead of the last defender. One passes it diagonal foward to the side of the keeper, the other taps it in to the open net. My understanding of the rule was in this situation that the first player could make a backwards pass like a cut back and it was onside?

I pretty much assumed that FIFA ensures that the player recieving the ball is behind the player passing when the pass is made. The pass itself doesnt have to be 'backwards'. I know Ive been caught offside when something like that hasnt happened.

I know FIFA is a bit more liberal with offside this year but I fully expect youve lost to valid goals rather than FIFA calling them all wrong...

P.S. Are these ranked matches, if not, are you sure that the offside option is on?

This game feels a lot like pes6 where people are so bad at shooting, or afraid, they have to square/cut the ball back to another player to score. Some moron I played before was clean through on goal and had no one to pass too so rather than shooting he dribbled out wide waiting for a team mate to catch up. I hate this style of play. FIFA 09 you couldn't do it very well.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't lost due to this it's been more than one goal on each occasion I have lost by. But if both players are past the last defender, how can a forward pass be made from one to the other and it not be offside when the receiving player is meant to be level with the last defender? Maybe I am describing it wrong but players never pass this way in real matches.

They are ranked I believe, they have all yielded points, or lost them more often... Just standard head to head matches if that's the same.

Receiving player doesn't need to be level with the last defender, as long as there are two players (i.e. goalie and your passing player) between him and goal when the pass is made, he's onside.
