***** The Official Fifa 12 Thread *****

Played for a couple of hours last night - loved the changes and can see the new defending making games far more realistic. You are far less inclined to go all out attack when your defence isn't as easily mustered - think it leads to slower built moves, especially when it seems the defence is more capable to put you off your stride now once the defender is close.

Only niggle is I'm used to using CPU defending to make tackles while my controlled player covers - that's proven harder to do as I cant use pace when covering. Forced to just used my controlled player which is probably why it takes so long to retrieve possession - left it in default difficulty so least I get used to it while its not easy.

The improved power bar is definitely my favourite change - feel like I can choose my shot rather than FIFA making the best choice. Alan Smith is not an improvement though :(

Despite my defending being poor when set to Tactical Defending I'm sure the game AI is a lot better than when I change it to Legacy Defending which I swapped at half time. It goes smarter, shoots from longer ranges and is much quicker on the ball. Will we get used to Tactical Defending or will everyone just end up using Legacy Defending?

I think that we'll have to get used to the Tactical Defending as people have said it's going to be forced on in ranked games and probably UT as well. It's different, I like it but it's difficult for me to get to grips with still. I'm used to covering with a human controlled player and then letting the CPU press the ball carrier, this doesn't seem to work very well with the tactical defending, or I'm doing it wrong. Holding R1 just seems to make the computer player run in the general direction of the attacker and not really get properly tight against them like they used to in 11.

I wouldn't say that Sony are being lazy, Wednesday is when they always update the European PS Store. It's not as if they are going to drop everything and update the store a day early just so some people can play the FIFA 12 demo. If you really were desperate to play it yesterday though you could have made a US profile on your PS3 last night, once it's downloaded you can play it on your UK account anyway. :p

How do you make a US account?

I'm sick of waiting :p

:D

On your PS3 you need to create a new user then sign up for Playstation Network and choose America as your country. I'm not sure if you need to use a legitimate American address but mine is Beverly Hills and the zip code is 90210. You could just search for a hotel in America and put their address too, but then I'm not certain you need to put in a legitimate address as long as the zip code is authentic.

they can add content to the store whenever they want, does not need to be a Wednesday, so yeah it is a bit stupid/lazy to make users wait.

That may be but traditionally they update the PS Store on a set day each week, why would they change that for one demo? Especially when in America the demo came out the same day as the 360 demo. It's only Europe that is getting it 24 hours later, it's not as if one day makes a massive difference is it.
