Yup.
We get more subs, but transfers are limited.
When the summer transfer window opens, it technically counts as the next season, so i'll try for Banega then.

AMC though, i can either call up one of my promicing youngsters, or hope Rosina is good enough for another season?

Rotate Rosina + a youngster, that way they both get fitness, and the youngster gets game play, and his stats will rise playing first team football.

How old is Rosina?
At the moment he's 32.
Its currently Feb2016, and he turns 33 in Jan2017.
I suppose i could play him as the central AMC, as speed isnt required there...

Managed to get Banega.

Next season:
GK: Akinfeev / Castaldo
DL: Chiellini / Christiansen
DC: Criscito / Meissner
DC: Breno / Tuia
DR: Zaballa / Banti
MC: Fabregas / Marchisio
MC: Nocereno / Banega
AMC: Gourcuff / Willemse
AMC: Nasri / Rosina?
AMC: Aguero / Pato
ST: Bojan / Balotelli

So thats 9 italians out of a squad of 22. Not as high as i'd like it, but non too shabby for a big club.

In:
Christiansen - £11m.
Banega - £21m.
Meissner - from youth team.
Willemse - from youth team.

Out:
Alves
Mascherano
VDV
Barzagli

My problem now is getting rid of Alves, Barzagli, Mascherano & VDV.
Ive still got Cassani, Pasqual & Kaka on the books because they wont go.
Once they've all gone, thats a lot of wages freed up!

Board generally blocks compensations over 300k. :(.
Pasqual - 45k
Cassani - 75k
Kaka - 115k
VDV - 90k
Alves - 65k
Barzagli - 70k
Bonera - 33k
Come the end of the season, thats 493k being wasted.
Bonera is retiring though. So thats only 360k!:(:p

Odd.
Just managed to let Kaka go for £2m!? :D.

Gonna try the rest come the end of the season.
Mascherano is only 31 atm, 32 next season. Perhaps it was too early to let him go, but ah well. Fresh blood and all that. :p.

Well in my first season of this game (I jumped straight in) as Darlington Town....I got relegated:(

I just seem to be leaking money and goals at the end. The board like my wage budget as its only 3/4 of the max, yet the money just seems to be draining out of the club!! Any ideas on how to bolster it bar selling players??? Hopefully will bounce back from Blue Square Premier next season...

I decided to go another way entirely for my first real attempt at the game. I've taken my local club and given them a 'sugar daddy' chairman. As a result my mercenary packed Aylesbury United side are all over the Blue Square South division like a bad suit. The Glory Days are coming! :D And at least this way I can have a bit of fun while attempting to learn how the finer points of the game work. Getting thrashed every match and not knowing why was getting a tad dispiriting.

Depending on how it goes I may even stick with 'The Ducks', as managing established top flight clubs has never really held any interest for me.

Anyone know how, or at what stage you get to when your limit on staff increases?

I'm still playing with Newport County, made it into League 2 now.

I'm still stuck with a limit of 1 coach.

Luckily I had a few extras already signed at the start of the game, but they're awful compared to the coaches I can get now.... but I can't sign the new coaches because I'm over the recommended limit and all my staff signings get canceled!

Not sure at all. :(

So you are asking at what point in what league or what reputation a club has to have in order for the board to increase the number of coaches you can employ?

Quite a good question and one I've never encountered before. Playing as Man Utd will be like that. Perhaps those who've taken small clubs to the giddy heights of the Premiership and Champions League will know.

That's exactly it yes.

I can't say I ever really noticed it with Swansea before, but it's quite ridiculous playing now with Newport and I've made it all the way to pushing for promotion/playoffs in League 2 and still being told I can only have 1 coach.

Whether this is to do with the reputation of the club, or finances I do not know.... but it can't be doing the squad any good in terms of training.

As I said, I do have 4 coaches simply because Newport start with two youth coaches and a goal keeping coach (that is also a player) and one regular coach.

The problem is, if I sack any one of those I can't higher a replacement because I'm too far over the limit. The ones I've got are awful compared to the coaches and staff that are available to me :(

Normally if it says you can have 2 coaches, you can have 4. Or if your Utd and it says no more than 8 coaches you can normally get away with say 14 or so.

Just finished my first season with Chelsea. Won the Premiership on the last day of the season, had to beat Wigan if Man Utd beat Blackburn which they did. Won it by 2 points.

Having a hard time off loading some players. Shevchenko, Ballack, Alex and Ben-Haim :p

Nobody wants them on loan or as a transfer... Need to get shot of them to bring down the wages. They are on high wages and dont play so they are just wasting my money and squad place :p

Probably because they're all naff :p

Just try and sell them cheaper and cheaper.

Somebody will eventually bite.

It's generally easier to sell people in the month before, or the first month of the transfer window (from what I've found anyway).

Nobody can afford Shevchenko's wages. Ive got him down @ £0 :p Same with Alex and Ben-Haim.

Ballack is on loan at Bayern for the season, they are paying 50% of his wages, so thats £66k, which is better than nothing.

Just finally signed Silva too.

All throughout the season, I wanted Silva, Ronaldo or Messi.

Bids for Ronaldo even upto £75m were rejected. Bid for Messi @ £55m was accepted but he did'nt want to go. I had to put in the minium release for Silva but hes worth it, right :p

Ive only got Man Utd after Kaka now :p

Kaka and Ronaldo together, that should be some pairing. They pretty much play the same formation as me. 3 AMC's behind a ST.

Hi mate. Sorry I didn't see this reply. Flipping Thunderbird! Might install Outlook 2007 tomorrow and see what that is like. :)

Anyway that sounds mighty weird. As I've said I've never taken a lower league team up so I couldn't vouch for the expansion of the club in terms of stadium/training ground/staff numbers but that sounds dodgy. Could check over on SI Games in the bug forum?

You could download FM Modifier and change the reputation of the club to the maximum value and see if that changes anything. Keep a copy of the save game if you want to carry on as before. :)

I'm starting to get in to this game again now. I've given up the 'Sugar Daddy' antics with Aylesbury and have taken up the challenge of becoming the new Brian Clough at Notts Forest.

It's immensely satisfying sticking it to a rival manager when they publicly state that you're no good. What's even better is then having a not so subtle dig at them after the match, just for good measure. :D

I must stop jumping round the room when I score a late winner though. It's most unseemly for a chap of my age. :o
