need to get some prem kits/logos.

anyone know the way to change the name of the Euro Cup etc without using an editor? is it still the same as deleting a FAKE.xxx file?

just started my second season as liverpool, lost 2-1 to man utd fa cup final and lost 4-3 to barca in champs league final, but won the premiership in the most thrilling final day of the season ever, me scoring 2 goals in 6mins at the end to beat reading 4-1 and win the premiership on goal difference, i was jumping out of my chair screaming, only 1 of my flatmates understood my joy as he plays fm as well.lol

good players are marcelo who u can get for 5.5mil min release clause, valencia just stole him off me for 30mil after 1 season cos my chairman accepted the offer for me :( also aaritalo as previously mentioned is good, im a fan of paul anderson in liverpool reserves/U18's, my coaches say hes potential to be better than steven gerrard.

im probably being daft here, but i cant find a graphics folder to put the kits. need to put these "default" ones in before the new kits will work.

where do they go? :o

you need to make your own place, my docs > sport interactive > football manager 2008 > graphics

then create 3 folders

Logos
Facepacks
Kits

place anything u download in there

In game make sure Use Skin Cache is UNTICKED
And have Reload SKin on Confirm TICK (not necessary but easier if you install new stuff etc)

It seems the beta patch has been updated but the SI guys have been very coy about it. The size of the patch when you download it is now twice the size it was when the beta patch was released but theirs nothing to say the patch has been updated anywhere.

speaking of wonderkids this might be a help to some people. was posted over at sortitoutsi

Players with potential of -10 (170-200):

Players with potential of -9 (150- 180):

the list was compiled by Hampton.

Ah, forgive me if I am being naive, but surely just looking in the database for the players with the highest potential is missing the point of the game? Although it is a game based on maths, just looking past the stats you are given to the hidden stats you have to discover is taking it to far?

I count hearing a post of a good player on the net 'scouting', but knowing for sure X has the highest hardcoded potential in the game is just cheating? :D

Edit: Maybe cheating is the wrong word, what I mean is, surely the joy of this game in particular, is unearthing that diamond and watching them turn into a legend?

that indeed is true, about 4 or 5 of them players I had already found :D but it soon comes around when people start to use FM Genie. You dont need to look at the players if you dont want to, but some people like to know who are going to be good players ;)

Can anyone suggest a decent striker for me to buy for Man Utd. Got about £14 at the moment but it is December so I might get more in January. I have Rooney/Tevez/Saha so I need someone to compliment those three.

Also in terms of tactics, say I played Rooney and Tevez, who would I make the target man? Same for Rooney/Saha and Tevez/Saha.

a Striker for Man U, personally id say look for a tall striker, someone who will flick the ball on for the pace of Rooney etc to run onto.

The obv best "Onto Head" Target men are Klose & Toni from Bayern, not sure how much they would cost you though. Also Trezegeut is another class player in this department.

Im not sure about Vagner Love stats if hes a Target man type of player, but from what ive been reading and saw on my current game (hes at Portsmouth single handidly got them 5th i think in the Prem) he is a machine.

If you were playing both Rooney and Tevez in the same team, the best option for the target man would be to run onto ball or to feet, however I dont think this would make a massive difference. Id definately have them two swapping positions though during a game. They are both very similar players and having them swapping positions if the oppo is man marking can make it very confusing :D

It really depends on what style you play. Do you have two quick strikers and look for the ball in behind the defence, or do you want a TM that can hold the ball up until support arrives?

A couple of players I would consider looking at are: Rodrigo Palacio from Boca and usually costs around £6m or Goran Pandev but he usually gets snapped up early on by Chelski.

As for the current trio, you couldn't really use either of Tevez or Rooney as TM as they arent tall enough, although the strength attributes on Rooney I believe are high, so he has the potential to play the role.

If you can, get Bojan from Barca, or Carlos Vela from Arsenal. Both *very* good strikers. I don't know how far you are into the game but they start off quite young so the price shouldn't be too high. Whether or not their clubs will sel them is a different matter tho :)

you could play rooney as a target man if it is set to play the ball to feet.

Toni looks a bit old really to spend £10m+ on.

Scouting all those players though. :)

Not really sure. I suppose I play a fast kind of football what with Tevez and Rooney.

Pandev at Chelsea now.

Just coming up to January 2008.

Jim5000 - Any chance you could remove the pics from your post? They are very big and really only need to be seen once and not quoted because of their size. :)
