Not really sure. I suppose I play a fast kind of football what with Tevez and Rooney.

If your enjoying the fast paced football I personally dont think you need to sign anyone to go upfront, because all 3 of Rooney, Tevez & Saha are very quick players, even some of Utds youth like Frazier Campbell are very fast and could perform as backup if desperate. However if you wanna build for the future on the same basis of a fast striker who can finish then look at bringing in Bojan or Henri Saivet.

Just bought Rodrigo Palacio, scored on his debut. :D

The board gave me £775k spending money in January so I fiddled the accounts again and got another £15m to play with. Might try for Bojan or Saivet for the future.

Might want to put 'spoilers' in the thread title, with that massive list of players pulled direct from the DB being in a post rather than a link it's a bit dificult to avoid especially as it now appears twice and many including myself will think it's a bit underhand.

If you want I can ask them to edit their posts so that the quote doesn't show the images and that the OP of the pics just has links in his post with a spoiler alert on that?

And if we can't get them to do that within a reasonable time I can ask a don to do this for me.

How does that sound? I want this to be a thread for all of us FM08 fans that we can share tips, stories, tactics etc so I'm eager not to alienate people at this stage, or any other stage for that matter. :p

sorted, the images are just click links now, and spoiler etc on the post. :)

10 mill striker;

Jimmy Briand - ~ £11m ish but well worth it, french, fast, good technique, 18 accelleration, 18 finishing... does the JOB~

Antonio Floro Flores - a bit weak, but non the less he does a job too..

check out the french top division there is an adbundance of new Henry's floating around for 5-12million. i picked Jimmy as being the best all rounder/fastest and best...

Thanks for the tips. :)

Anyone with some decent tips for players that can do well for under or around £1m

Toughy I know...

Nearly all my signings have been loans so far, with one free transfer (Malcom Christie... he's a machine for me at the moment) and a couple of semi large transfers.

Li Tie from Sheff Utd, Richard Duffy on load... Darryl Murphy has just signed... three poor games in a row from him though, and the fans have turned on him... but he's had two decent games now and things are turning around for him.

Took Swansea to the third round of the League Cup but got knocked out by Newcastle.

A very close game, despite the 3-0 score line.
The fans were pleased with how well the team coped against a Premiership team :)

I've told the board I can challenge for the title and pretty much told them we're already in the Championship next season.
It's not going as smoothly as I'd hoped, but I should meet the expectations and hit the three year plan of being a top Championship side challenging for promotion by the end of the three years.

Paul Anderson (loaned from Liverpool) has been fantastic for me... I'm going to do my best to keep him for another season, or a permanent move.

If he hasnt already signed for someone else Mika Aaritalo is the best player ive found yet for under £1m :)

Briand was a machine on FM07. Also Chamakh at Bordeaux is a superb striker.

Monnet-Paquet from Lens (i think) was another top prospect on FM07 havent saw how he becomes on 08 yet though.

Glad to see you are doing so well with Swansea. Out of interest, who do you have as a Parent Club? Providing you haven't ditched them.

I was going to suggest you look at Paul Anderson, but then I read your last sentence. I also second bailey's comment about Mika Aaratilo. In addition, there are 2 other players from the club he started at who are well worth the look, obviously thats if they have not yet been sold. One is an AMRLC cannot remember his name though Haikonen or something like that, and the other is a keeper.

Other than those two, see if you can get any of the following, as they are very good at Championship level, but I am going to guess that they will be worth more than the £1m you can afford to spend.

Fabien Brandy and Frazer Campbell from Man United
Tomas Pekhart from Tottenham
Pretty much anyone from Arsenal
A Swedish guy by the name of Lustig, cannot remember his first name though. He is in the Under 21 side I believe, should be easy to find, he plays at the back.

I know of more, but cannot remember them until I get home.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Frazer Campbell desperately wants first team football and wants to go out on loan to get some as he doesn't want to leave United.... however he just wont sign on loan for me. He was one of my first choices, I haven't tried to sign him properly however.

Anderson is doing very well for me, he picked up an injury and was out for three games... and the team just wasn't itself without him there. The performance wasn't as good.

Brandy... not looked at him, or Pekhart either... I'll make a note to check both of them out.

I don't have a parent club at the moment. The board couldn't find a suitable club the last time I looked. How often can you pester them about this before they end up getting fed up with you? Once a month, once every two months??

He is based in Finland, just type in his name, he will be there, unless your on a small database.

I'm using a large DB (if I remember correctly)... Shall try when I get home from work.

The perfect compromise, thanks to the origional poster for already removing the pics I don't want to annoy I just like to play the game a bit more old school. I'm not sure that ferguson and wenger have databse hacks to help them find the next star!

Bojan is worth every penny. Hes my top scorer at Spurs so far this season.
Think I have more chance of getting him than Carlos Vela since Arsenal will not want to sell anyone to me.

Looks like we are all happy. :)

Bet they do! :p
