Strange I just sign mine and leave them. I do try to get coaches with high youth ratings, say 17/18+, but if not I don't really bother. I think a world class coach with say 10-16 for youth coaching will end up being better for coaching the youth players than a rubbish coach with 20 for youth coaching.

As BoomAM and Bennah say there are tons of decent MCs. Whenever I send scouts out around the world all I get are ruddy MCs.
Can anyone recommend a decent 4-4-2 tactic? Started a new quick game to get me back into FM before FM09 is out. I want a 4-4-2 so I can play more strikers. On my previous game I had a 4-2-3-1 which meant I could only play one of Rooney/Tevez/Huntelaar etc and so I had a massive rotation exercise on hands.

Yes. I think when a player retires then another is created as his double inheriting the older player's PA and could be like them.
I also think SI have changed this so a player can just be created out of nothing.

I've never had the patience or skill to get a game going to a time in the distant future where all the stars and potential stars have long gone and it is a world of regens. But I've heard stories about problems with regens even in FM08. Something about the best regens having fantastic technical stats but quite poor physical stats.

They wouldn't have bothered doing another update so close to FM09. And with FM09 being out in November they'd probably not bother with one in December as two months later they'd have to do the transfer window update.
