Guys there is two problems with the new database update from SI, it makes Spurs VERY rich in the first season and almost (or does) bankrupt Portsmouth. You need to do the following:

1. Open the data editor and load the 8.0.2 Update database
2. Go to "Clubs" and search for Portsmouth
3. When you've opened Portsmouth, click on the "Finances" option
4. Then go to "Contract Clauses 2" tab and scroll down to Jermaine Defoe
5. Change the "Per League Appearances" to "After League Appearances"

Don't know how to fix Spurs, hasn't been posted how to yet. This workaround was posted by the SI Games MD so I guess they are looking at Spurs soon and will post a fix when possible.

Also there is no version of programs like FMM / Genie Scout so if people have already started a new game then editing the database using the Data Editor won't help your current game, so I'd suggest either starting again if you aren't far in or waiting for a newer version of a save game editing tool :)

I noticed Breno has moved to FC Bayern and is worth quite a bit, he's was my first ever "always buy this player" :(

dont suppose theres a chance that the patch has january transfers? or have i missed it in the change log?

Whereabouts on SI Games' forum is this? In the patch thread? Can't find it. Can you tell me which thread/page etc?

True. :)

Could have told you that! :p An MSN pal of mine is a Utd fan and participates in the Utd good player thread and has been moaning for ages that Breno goes to Bayern. Means it'll cost so much more to get him. :(

It does. :) Need to start a new game though to get them.

If you try to sign a player but fail to get a work permit but sign him anyway, can you keep on trying to get him a work permit? Is there anything else you can do?

Try offering him a new contract, loan him out etc.

Sometimes it due to age, sometimes if they play a few more international games since you've signed him.

No!!! Cause you said you didn't really love me :(

clicky :)

You can send him out to a feeder club to get him EU nationaility if you have a feeder club like that. If you don't then you can apply to the board to get one through the board room, although bare in mind you'll need to be at the club a couple of seasons before they'll let you choose which type of feeder club you want (in this case the one to avoid work permits) otherwise they'll just pick themselves which type is best.

Ship him off to a foreign club if you have a decent feeder club. Man Utd have Antwerp for this. :)

I do really. ;)

And thanks. :)

Cheers for quick response, how long should they be kept there on loan?
Depends on how long the country the feeder club is in makes a player be there for an EU passport/work permit.

Think Belgium is 3 years. You can use the editor to look up a country and it'll tell you how long to gain citizenship in that country. The shorter that period the better. :)

Seems fixing Jermain Defoe issue on the database also fixes the Spurs issue as it was a sale clause that mean that Portsmouth gave Tottenham £1,000,000 after X league games - although in the bugged version they gave them £1,000,000 every game he played in :P
