God damn it...

I've found a potential gem in Rafinha from Brazil, he's got a release clause of around £250,000... but he looks like he's got bucket loads of potential.

I got his work permit signed, but didn't have the cash to complete the transfer.

Shifted some dead weight from the squad, got the cash and now I can't get his work permit to come though

Is there anything I can do to make his permit come through easier?

Febian Brandy from Man Utd should be considered a definate loan aquisition for any person playing in the lower leagues. I think he started 8, subbed on for another 4 and scored 9 or 10 goals.

I've been offered a fair few players now from European teams for around £10,000-£30,000... they all seem to be around 25ish and have solid stats around the 14's and above... But they all sign for teams in their own country.... damn them...

read my post about the dead links, go to the official page over at FMGLive (link in Marcs first post) they have all been updated to FileFront links. Also Packmanch helped create SS08 and keeps upto date WIP lists etc, so if he says he doesnt want a megapack uploaded then it doesnt. Although if your that lazy I suppose someone who has most packs uploaded might do it for you against Packmanchs consent anyway. Doesnt kill you to download the past you just want at first then update as you want

I'm using the SS08 kits. I've just downloaded the default kits with white effect. Where do I put them?

chuck everything in your My Documents\Sports Interactive\FM2008\Graphics\Kits folder. Make one if not there already. The config.xml files do all the hard work.

Edit - Yep looks like it. Thanks very much. I might edit my first post to include the default kits link and where they need to go.

yup thats exactly what you do. it would be a good idea to add that to the first post about where to put any downloads you make. its literally create a Graphics folder and then sub folders Kits, Logos, Facepacks

Anyway back to some FM talk, my 2nd season with HSV has just gone t**s up really. Not really struggling in the league but sitting 6th at the minute near christmas (im expected to challenge for title) which is quite disappointing seeing as though last season I was still unbeaten by this point. I havent changed the side really apart from bringing in a few young kids for the future, but I just seem to be struggling to score even though im all over team and they go and nick one soft goal.

Champions league was going well beat Juve away, drew with Barca at home and beat Young Boys away but in the second part I lost to Juve at home, lost to Barca away and only managed a draw with young boys so that put me into Uefa cup.

Even worse in German cup was put out in first round by a 2nd div side on penalties really need a top quality finisher but all the ones i know of are costing me too much and ive only got £10m to spend

FIrst post in this thread however got ont thing to say I HATE THIS GAME !

seriously, having played every FM and CM since amiga days i have never been as frustrated with any game as i have this one.

Dont get me wrong i am doing ok, second season with man utd wining the league and a cup ion the first got a healthy transfer budget brought in some great players but I cant fricking score.

Im wining most games 1-0 but even that is so frustrating its untrue watching the highlights to see my two strikers fluff chance after chance after chance after chance. Its got to the point where i know they are not going to score and its a surprise when or if they do.

Itys not like i have bad strikers I've got Rooney / Tevez and Aguero for example Aguero

he has played 524 minutes of football since his last goal, he has 6/35 shot to goal ration and has at least 2-3 one on ones per game and fluffs them all over tha bar.

Rooney is a little better 407 minutes since last goal 10/52

Tevez well 410 minutes 9/55

Its just too damn frustrating trying to score on this game and its driving me insane. Is anyone else having these problems or is it just me ?

I do but not every game. Like last night I played about 5 games i think and won most like 3-1, 4-1 etc I was scoring loads but always conceeding a STUPID goal. then last game before I exited i played Leverkusen at home, expected to win I used my usual tactic ive been using and had 14 shots, 9 of which were on target the Leverkusen keeper had the game of his life and I conceeded a free kick which was only Leverkusen's second chance on goal haha. wasnt happy

has updating to the 2nd beta patch made any difference ?

tried it on my game and its still as bad, gonna try restarting a game see if that helps, even tho i read its supposed to be ok with save games

for me definately, i started a new game when the beta patch was released and im only getting disallowed goals every now n then, few times i get a fair few but thats usually because i play my striker right on the shoulder of last man, and sometimes a good defence can catch me offside quite often.

ok i have a wierd problem where it has imported the la liga kits except for the third chocie ones even though they are in the same folder as the first & second choice kits

so my barca third choice colour is just a grey one

still some probs with configs etc. like spurs 3rd kit wont work either and some away kits. SI have said this will be sorted. Although you could always have a look in the config see if its correct. I will check my la liga folder later see if the config is correct because I dont think ive changed any of it. But im not sure if my Barca third doesnt work.

I haven't as yet installed the beta patch. I couldn't see the point in immediately patching FM08. I wouldn't get to see what it changed for the better or worse.

I do notice a fair amount of disallowed goals. I might not bother with the beta patch and just wait for the final version.

Also in my game I am having problems with Queiroz, he wants more wages than the board will let me offer him.

But then this is just a practice game to learn the ins and outs of the game and find all the good buys ready for a proper game when the patch proper comes out.

This version of the game has had a few subtle under the hood changes and working tactics from FM07 aren't working in this version. The tactics part of the game has had a serious tweaking and you aren't the only one complaining about how difficult it seems now to be good at the game. The SI forums are full of people saying the same thing.
