Need a few players - any recommendations?

Goalkeeper - Ustari, Ochoa, Akinfeev
Left Back - Marcelo (cant get him), Shorey
Right Back - Alves, Wilson
Centre Backs - Kompany & not sure

Left Wing - not sure
Right Wing - not sure
Centre Mid - not sure

Striker - need another, just signed Vagner Love.

Any ideas? :D

Wont sign all, just some ideas where to sign.

Without knowing who you are playing as, and how much you can spend it is difficult to recommend players to sign.

The goalkeepers you have suggested are pretty much the best available, unless you can prize Cech away from Chelski. For hot prospect you can try the French U21 keeper, but his name escapes me at the moment, begins with an L.

Defenders, tru Ignashevich at right back or Breno the Brazilian youngster.

In midfield Van der Vaart appears to be a very good player, but one of the best players I have signed is Miguel Veluso the Portuguese DM, he is absolutely amazing. There are truely too many to list. Zapater is another awesome DM that you can buy for around £6-7million.

Keepers also look at another Mexican kid Alamo, bit eccentric but prospect of becoming a great keeper.

CB - Kompany is very good but not great in the air, Udinese have two superb CB Zapata & Felipe, both have class stats, as does Barzagi (sp)

LW - Aaritalo (can play there or FC) Downing ;) Nani, Silva, Guardado
RW - Menez, Rosina, Arteta
CM - Toulalan, Van der Vaart, Mati Fernandez, Banega

FC - Edison Cavani, Podolski, Oba Martins (check my last post ;))

True. Suggest some of the European prospects then. :p

Considering you will be looking at around £38m for Aguero you can get any of the following players for that price, and the majority having money to spend elsewhere. Also, considering that you were also looking at TM earlier on, I have included a few of those.

Lukas Podolski
Bojan
Berbatov
Van Persie
Fernando Torres
Henri Saivet
Wiljenboom (not sure on the spelling, young dutch kid from Feyenoord)
Saez (Spanish)
Goran Pandev
Jimmy Briand
Ukaka (young Italian at Roma I believe)

I know I'll be looking for a young Mexican kid called Carlos Vela - currently at Arsenal but I think he's loaned to a Spanish side to get his work permit/passport sorted to play in the prem!
I bought him off Arsenal about 5yrs into the game on FM2007 for £59m - world player of the year 2yrs running and averaging about 30 goals a season!! :D

Hope he's as good in this version!!!

from sortitoutsi's forums......

QUOTE(Lucagfc @ Nov 7 2007, 02:07 PM)

I'm working on a megapack that contain all the kits relased but i've a problem with the file uploaded on rapidshare...cha anyone upload this file on filefont?

DON'T EVEN TRY TO RELEASE IT...

anyone work out why packmanch is so against anyone releasing the SS08 kits as a megapack? Surely makes more sense to most people than trying to download 50-60 separate files from various broken servers

If its still broken links over on the SUSIE site, go the SS08 official page at FMGLive forums, all links have been changed to filefront. And its not really hard to download them all. Ive done so over the past week, at first downloaded the main leagues and default kits then just quickly downloaded and unzipped the rest, doesnt take 2secs all downloads are pretty much under 1mb. Also theres still a lot of leagues kits to be made, this means a megapack could be getting uploaded every 2days and seems like a bit of hassle for the uploader :)

zytok - I'm confused here. What part of your post is a quote and what part is yours?

Could you just link to the sortitoutsi forum quote?

Sorry, it's not 100% clear.

The top half - talking about wanting to release a megapack was from one forum user. The second part - the warning was from Packmanch, the guy that seems to have done most of the SS08 kits.

Just couldn't understand why Packmanch was objecting so strongly to another forum user wanting to release all the kits released in one pack rather than 40odd separate downloads. Especially as a lot of the links to individual kits are down.

Who are you guys playing with to sign all these players

Anywho... there's one thing I wish they'd sort out in FM which has bugged me for years.

Proper scaling for larger resolutions.

Why, oh why is this game fixed to 1024*768 :-/

If your looking for a great prospect for the future, and a good keeper right now... look at Hugo Lloris.

Haven't checked him out stats wise, but he's pretty highly rated in real life.

untick the full screen option in the graphics preferences then maximise the window. Voila 1280x1024 or whatever.

Thats the name of the French keeper I recommended earlier on, but couldn't remember the his name. He is a brilliant keeper, and kept 32 straight clean sheets for my reserves this season.

spoiler alert

as he appears to be in the small list of max potential players on page 1, there's a pretty good chance he will be mate.

DL - Richarlyson brazilian LB/DMC/AML! does everything, more than doubles in value.. only costs 2 mill to buy..
DC - Gabriel? Ezquaray - was immense on the last one and still is, Brazilian CB with loads of skill and a 1mill release clause!
DMC - Andre Kruska from Dortmund turns out real swell. (im dortmund).
DMC - Sivok now in italy but can be had for 3-4 mills.
LW - Kieron/Martin? Lee - Man UTD Youth, seems to get frustrated in the reserves, but didnt want to come to Dortmund:/ so i took nani instead !!
RW - Adlung - german U21 player, looks like a great prospect, always seems to be tired so get those fitness coaches handy.. 4million - the "new" - "Deisler"
ST - Jimmy Briand - 18 Acceleration, 18 finishing, good composure and technique. Scores Goals. 11mill.

Can't find this guy at all. Do you have to pick a large database to see him or are you possibly talking about Ezequiel Garay? (young Argentinian Centre Back)

To run in a different screen resolution than the standard one do the following

1. Right click on your desktop icon for FM08 and select properties from the list.

2. Add the following to the link in the target box after the last " -fullscreen_width=? -fullscreen_height=? and set the ? to the size you require. In my case my target line in the properties on my desktop link is "G:\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\fm.exe" -fullscreen_width=1680 -fullscreen_height=1050 this runs the game in the resolution i need.

3. Apply then exit out of the properties and next time you run the game it starts in the screen resolution size you have set.

Cheers... I'm sure thats what I did last year for FM2007 actually :o

Native res of my screen is 1680*1050 too, but from memory aren't the player sizes during matches ridiculously small?
The textboxes they use stay the same size as well, so you still need to scroll down a tiny box to read text when it could easily all fit on your screen.

Not sure if this still happens in FM2008 though.

My game will never run in window mode :(.

Useful tip;

If your game wont play in Window, if you're using 1024x768 or something then put this after the Target in the Properties Window;
-small_screen -windowed
