*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

4 hours seems really short. Are you doing anything really intensive constantly for those 4 hours?

I recharge mine every night while I sleep, and I've never been below about 60%. I use it mostly for ebook reading, youtube, comics, and the occasional hour of gaming. I did one leave it uncharged for a few days, and it took 3 days of not-intensive use to run down, and I also left it looping a video after its first charge cycle to see how long it lasted, and it was down to 10% after 9.5 hours.

I have my screen brightness set almost to the lowest value - I only use it indoors and that's all that's needed for me.

Love Google Mags on this, so glad we finally got it! Just need some better titles now!

Yeah, like Empire movie mag. I am shocked they still have yet to bring their magazine to the Android platform. Right now, I've had to subscribe to Total Film til Empire get their thumbs out.

Got myself a Nexus 7 but hitting any issue where it won't connect to my Netgear wireless router with it setup configured for WPA/WPA2. Anyone seen/had similar probs?

Yes I had that, in the end I took all security off my router, connected and let it update.

Then I put it back and it was fine.

I'm late to the party, but work just bought me a N7 for Xmas.

Can anyone recommend some good widget apps? I want a prettier clock with weather etc. can't seem to find a default one that it comes with?

Does anyone else find that the new lock screen with the widgets is incredibly slow to auto rotate. It can take up to 5 seconds to rotate the screen. Its really annoying me. Infact the whole of the new lock screen annoys me, I want the old simple one back.

Yeah, I don't like the new lockscreen at all. There was no real reason to change it.

Try HD Widgets, Beautiful Widgets, GO Weather EX or Fancy Widgets on the Play store.

i have seen a lot of people getting these on this fourm. i was wondering why are these so popular from the other tablets.

Probably because they are very powerful devices with a really good screen and excellent battery life that can be had for little more than the cheap Chinese brands and you get excellent and ongoing support direct from Google, ensuring you get the latest version of Android before anyone else.

I actually find them a complete no brainer if you want a 7" tablet, to get even close to the specs of the 16GB one you need to spend at least £100 on a cheaper brand, and for that you'll get a worse screen, dual core and a worse GPU and a far smaller battery plus little to no future support. If I'm spending £100 already, I'd always spend the extra £59 (or in fact a little more for the 32GB one).

ahhh righto lol sounds nice if i was to get 1 i think ya just convinced me haha.. is there a bigger version of them. i dont have a clue about tablets haha :D

There is, the Nexus 10. It's in a different league though, twice as expensive and very different specifications, manufactured by a different company all together. Arguably, the Nexus 7 is the more powerful device oddly enough because of the chipset it uses, but that will vary from person to person and nobody will find either a slouch.

The Google Play store gives lots of good info on each device (not that they are easy to buy at the moment mind).

My money still rests with the 32GB Nexus 7, but I find 7" the right size for my uses, if you want bigger, I don;t think it's unfair to say that the best choice becomes more blurred, simply because of the higher price.

Ordered one of these Wednesday morning, received it today, though oddly they didn't even put my name anywhere on the package or the invoice, our receptionist signed for it, opened it up and called google to get my name to ring me to say it arrived. Can't imagine how many people could potentially get their device stolen.

How is Tegra 3 more powerful than dual A15 cpus and a Mali T gpu with 2gb of dual channel ram?
