*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

In all fairness to Tom D the screen issue on the Nexus 7 is getting talked about all over t'net with many successful returns already reported. At first it was believed to be an adhesive problem but now it is realised to be a badly set clip, once this was understood some folk tried to fix by pressing and broke their screen, so be aware.

For anyone interested the flagship store of hmv on oxford street doesn't have stock and won't have any until the end of the week. I just popped in to check.

Popular online pre-order moved from 16th back to the 19th. :(

Unless on Thursday the stacks of Nexus 7 boxes falls over in the stock room on top of someone killing them. If they'd gone on sale today then that life could have been saved.

Well it seems googles returns policy isn't the best. If your device is faulty they will send you a new one out but they require a hold on the credit or debit card, their is no other way of getting an exchange.

Not everyone has that much cash readily available .

It's not cash, it's a hold on credit card funds, ie; your credit limit is effectively lowered by the amount held until they receive the returned product. If you don't have a spare £200 credit on your card then it has to be asked what you are doing buying a tablet in the first place.

I'm pretty sure I had to do that when I sent my dad's Kindle back to amazon for the screen death issue, I wasn't pleased with the whole kindle care experience from start to finish, yet with other goods they're fine.

The place that sent them out early now back to pre-order with stock expected 3rd Aug.

Will anywhere have stock in store do you think?

No idea, I ordered on the 12th and it isn't allocated. Thinking about cancelling.

Where can we get a Nexus 7 from post haste?

Are you understanding wrong? I don't own a credit card, I have never. I just have a debit card.

I set aside a spare £200 of my own cash to buy this tablet. I don't always have spare £200's to set aside, so if my tab ever did need to go back to Google I could well be screwed.

Ah yes, sorry I did misunderstand. However, I am sure that google must have some facility to deal with that sort of situation, after all, they cannot deny you warranty support based on you being unable to front up £200 on a debit card, I'd imagine they would ask you to ship the faulty unit back before sending a replacement or preferably, swap it at the door like a lot of mobile providers do.

I did ask them that yesterday, they straight up said their was no other way of doing the warranty process. The guy I spoke to even asked another colleague and he had the same answer. Seems strange.
