**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

I've said the same for a while now. I love Samsung hardware, but I do not like their skin nor the bloat. Same for Apple, a tweaked iPhone X with rear finger print sensor and Android Pie would be a hell of a phone.

Whats annoying for me is that this is a company device and enrolled in InTune. No rooting and loading with stock Android for me!

Hence the keen interest in the Pixel 3.

As my Pixel 2XL is faulty and going back to EE, I've got the chance to pick a new phone, and will probably end up going with this.

Though undecided on which model.

Pixel 3 with a 1080P display and a 3200 mAh battery would be ideal. It's the only reason I didn't go for the 2 - I need a decent battery

If you were referring to say MIUI then I could understand. But Samsung Experience may as well be whatever you want to make it.

You can change the skin very easily and have it exactly how you want really to the point where you would never guess it was a Samsung phone. This is the whole point of Android, to make it "yours", unlike iPhones where you are stuck with what Apple think you should have.

Credit where credit is due, that does look nice. Though that Google page needs a dark theme! I saw on Reddit its coming soon.

ELI5 what did you actually need to do to get it like that? I see Nova dark theme, what else?

Do you still have a bunch of Samsung apps that you can't remove?

The issue isn't with how it looks, but how it performs.

Stock Android is *so* much smoother. When the S8 came out, I saw reviews about how you can't tell the difference really, and that there aren't slow downs

Within the first day my new work S8 was experiencing slow downs and stutters.

I do like the ability to have themes though - I do get bored of stock Android, especially marshmallow->Nougat->Oreo, where they basically looked the same.

Thankfully Pie is so damn nice (and my goodness the animations are gorgeous)

These are the Samsung apps I have installed still. I do actually use most of them with the exception of alternatives like Google Calendar and Google Messages.

I'm using Nova with Swift Installer (for system wide dark theming). I'm just waiting for the Google Now page dark theme to be rolled out by Google as it seems they are rolling out dark mode for many apps as Pixel 3 launch gets closer. I'm using Substratum to theme the navbar icons to be stock Android (Pixel style).

The rest is custom colour options in Nova Launcher for the folder BG etc and layout tweaks in Nova for calendar widgets and things.

Pie will be great on all devices it gets updated on, so that side of things will solve any problem you have with Samsung. Personally I don't see any issues. Some microstutters in some apps, but that's always been the case on most phones. Samsung's own apps have zero microstutter, so this leads me to believe it's an optimisation thing with various developers/apps on certain devices.

Sadly I'll have upgraded to a Pixel 3 or S10 most likely and the S8+ will still not have been updated to Pie. Shame as the S8+ is such a great phone and probably one of the best I have ever had which has caused me to skip a number of phones since its launch.

Pie will still look different and perform differently on Samsung devices.

I also still see stuttering on Samsung's stuff - especially the browser. However, I do actually like the Samsung browser as I think it's a bit more thumb friendly than chrome, and when using it on my Pixel, I find it's quicker and/or smoother than on the S8
