**** The Official Google Pixel C Thread ****

Initially I wasn't blown away by using it, however having used it more in the last few days I'm pretty impressed with it and typing on the keyboard is surprisingly pleasent compared to the Z4 Tablet I have also.

The display is very good and the aspect ratio makes it much more suitable to reading than the Z4 Tablet, speakers are nice and clear also.

The light bar on the back is a nice touch too showing the Pixel colours and double tap to show battery level when screen is turned off.

Hi all can anyone recommend decent speakers for my pixel c? only sound on most apps I'm using just isn't loud enough to listen to while I'm at work.

Cheers all

Do we think Google will release a new Pixel tablet next year?

I’ve had an iPad Air 2 for a couple of years now but given I’ve gone for the Google Home gear, I quite fancy a move back over to Android for my next tablet.

Disappointed that the C’s have now gone OOS on the Google Store as £300 (understandable given the excellent price) was in line with my budget so just wondering whether I should just hold off and save the spendoolies until next year or try and find a C for around the same price....

There's no guarantee they will ever release a new tablet, as they seem more focused on the Chromebook OS now for larger devices.

I'm fairly happy with the Pixel C, although having picked up a Pixel 2 XL phone, the phone is clearly faster and has had more attention lavished on it. The Pixel C is a nice enough little machine but I defo wouldn't pay more than the £300 it was on offer for. It's a lot laggier than the Pixel 2 phone and the software isn't as developed.

Keep an eye on the second hand market though. Or maybe consider the Galaxy Tab S3 or whatever its called. Or if you have a large budget, maybe consider a Win10 hybrid and running an android emulator (or find a way of doing what you need in windows).

There was a brilliant bunch of Bluetooth Anker Soundcore speakers going on amazon for black friday. Those would work well with the Pixel C as they have aux inputs too.

Cheers for your input.

How have people found the storage aspect? Would a 32gb one be ok to get as opposed to a 64gb if it meant a lower price for it?

No problem. Despite what I said, I still think this is the best Android tablet. It has a lot going for it. Just not as polished as the Pixel 2 phone. That said, I use Nova Launcher, and set the animations to "fast", and in developer options, set animations to 0.5x and apart from when the device wakes from startup or a deep sleep, it generally responds fast (basically like a Samsung S7). I can still recommend it, and, if you're an android type rather than iOS you will automatically prefer it; I am like this and have sold my Macbook and am selling my iPad 2017 to use this.

As for the storage, 32gb is fine if you mainly stream and have most things in the cloud (like me). 64gb is nice to have though, I wont deny it.

Guys. I bought one of these for the mrs a couple of weeks ago for her birthday. I'm afraid to say she spilt a glass of water on it and now its pretty knackered. It'll only boot in safe mode and the volume down switch isnt working. Do Google still support repair on these? Its only a fortnight old and gutted she did this so would like to get it repaired. Cheers

Latest Netflix version is hard locking my Pixel everytime I try to playback anything. I'll get a 'Error xxx Cannot play video' message and then the OS (7.1.2) hard locks and I have to reboot. This is even after an app reinstall and clearing cache/data.

I downloaded a much earlier apk of Netflix and what a surprise - all is good. Play reviews for the app seem to be exhibiting similar playback issues lately too.

Nuts how this tablet has gone OOS everywhere (at least at a decent price).

Do Google ever give any indications as to when they’ll replenish stock?

Well I’ve managed to secure a mint 32gb version for £250. I’ll be fine with the storage side of things as I do a lot of streaming these days.

Last Android Tablet was the original Nexus 7 which was a great little device so hoping for more of the same with the C.

Should have it in the next couple of days.

I bought this a few weeks ago and tried to root it straight away.
It was an absolute nightmare, I was stuck in a boot loop where it kept booting into recovery mode.

Eventually I got it back to normal, although I've still got an unlocked bootloader.
I really want to try and root again, has anybody got any decent guides or recommendations?

Ive RMA'd the Mrs' one today and a new one has been sent out. I'll soon find out if they replace it for free or i end up paying for 2 C's.

Right!

Got my tablet yesterday and spent a bit of time with it last night before heading out for a meal.

First impressions are very positive! Will take me a little while to get used to the Android way of things again but it’s a great bit of kit.
