Nah I doubt I would use it for that either, but as I say in the very rare times I've got to do some proper work I've got my desktop PC anyway. It really is just a sofa surfer and a thing to take to the office or on trips away. Seems like it'll be ideal for that.

Sadly no keyboard. I'm on a £300 tops budget atm due to Christmas approaching and I very rarely do productivity on tablets. They're mostly for media/reddit/web browsing consumption. I'll deffo give thoughts as I've always wanted a Pixel C - just not at Google's usual out of touch prices.
 
I bit the bullet and ordered the keyboard as well. Figured it would only be half the machine without it. Can't wait, I'm another who wanted one originally but couldn't stomach paying £600+ for a 2 year old device, but at todays prices, its much better VFM. I don't think I'll be lucky enough to receive it today though!
 
What kind of sim card can you use on the tablet, i am kinda interested in this google tablet?

Can you use a standard mobile phone sim?

I want three's unlimited data you see.
 
First impressions - f me that box is impossible to open! Taking the tablet out of the box and seeing it in person... it is gorgeous build quality wise. Pressing the power button did nothing...whole device was at 0% charge so I'm charging it up right now having left the OS to update apps. There is an Oreo OTA update already available but I'll avoid for now.

Useful to know if it doesn’t turn on it’s probably flat. I don’t think you need to be that cautious to upgrade to the Oreo though imo. First thing I will do when I get my hands on it.
 
At 45% whilst rapid charging from a battery pack. Just finalising settings on some apps.

The screen absolutely gorgeous compared to my Lenovo Tab 4 Plus I returned this morning. The high dpi panel means that websites look nice and crisp and media looks absolutely quality via Netflix and Plex. Another plus is that I can type fast as hell in landscape mode with very little missed strokes vs the Tab 4 Plus. Scrolling is amazingly fluid in graphical heavy apps like Google Photos so far. The Pixel LED strip at the rear is a bit baffling - I'm not sure as to what it's purpose is yet and since I'll eventually have the tablet in a case, I doubt I'll use it.

Sound out of those two speakers is loud and clear when I played a few minutes of ST: Disco. I'll test this properly tomorrow when I have more time with the device. Unlike the Tab 4 Plus, I have zero regrets right off the bat - aside from not getting this last year when it was equally cheap on sale towards Christmas.

I'm going to stay on Nougat 7.1.1 for a while so I look forward to seeing how Oreo fares with you FishLicker!
 
A question for owners with the keyboard; does the keyboard have any shortcut for 'home' and 'end'? I don't mean to go to the home screen but to go to the beginning of a line of text or the end of a line of text in the same was a PC will.

Unless it has the Home and End keys, which I don't think it does, then it looks like you're restricted to using the Page up and down buttons.

Thanks. I couldn't find any mention of them, hence asking. I have a very light and portable bluetooth keyboard that I use with my laptop. It's an extremely comfortable compact Thinkpad keyboard with a trackpoint (mouse pointer nipple thing) on it. That has dedicated page up, down, home, end keys and works great with my current tablet. So it would be better to use than the Pixel C keyboard, but no where near as integrated.
