********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

The USB drive install (for the 2nd Disk for the X-box) is not mandatory and in fact you need to be cautious.

The game basically is so big it is split into 2 discs, you install Disc 1 and never need it again.......

Thanks Raymond. :)

Why on earth resist?

I've got a HND dissertation which I've supposed to have finished by October that I haven't even started yet. I think GTA V would put paid to any attempt to redeem myself with my employer if I were to purchase just now. :p

Trying to convince myself to get on with the dissertation and once its done my reward will be to purchase GTA V. That way of thinking isn't really appealing/working at the mo' though. :D

Once it's installed between both the USB and the HDD do you just boot the game from the dashboard with the disc in as usual?

Yes. See my posts above. This is what was confusing me, as my disc keeps spinning for 2 minutes on loading into a game, so I naturally assumed it was still running from the disc rather than the USB stick. All sorted now though as mentioned.
After a 10 minute test I see no real differences or performance from running the play disc off the USB, but I never really had any pop in or texture problems that I noticed. Was hoping it might help with the stuttering and frame dips, but it doesn't. At least it gets rid of my elites disc drive noise though, so it's worth it.

I noticed after completing the first mission that it grades you on your msision completion?
Can someone clear up the replying of missions please? It said something about not uploading to Social Club if i replay it?
Do you get anything if you 100% a mission?

Yeah I'd imagine that would get annoying. I have both discs installed to the HDD so don't get that issue, but also have yet to see any pop in or frame drops, and I've been on the look out now since knowing it was potentially an issue. I think this must be something that effects the older models or something
I read it's only really a problem if you're hd is nearly full though i'm on ps3 so not sure if that's true.

I don't have it installed yet, but the blacks at night and shadows are horrible, Jimmy's room looks awful for the black textures on the walls.

I don't know why it's doing it, but on the PS3 it's fine.

I'm getting this as well, blacks and dark colours tend to go all 'seperated'. I had initially put this down to my low quality TV, but after seeing your post, now I'm not so sure.

Can I just make an observation.

Historically, all 360 and PS3 games have never been written at HD or half HD res, normally closer to 520p or similar.

Have those experiencing issues with their xbox got theirs set to 1080p? If so, knock it down to 720p (the xbox) and see if that resolves it.

Thanks Raymond. :)

In that case delay the purchase.

I played from 8pm to 1am on the day I got it. I "plan" not to play tonight.....

Haven't played GTA since 2 but loving this. So big! The physical map brought me back to my younger youth years.

Only done a few missions yet, rest just strip club, cinema, cabbie etc, love the freedom. Also quite shocked at how explicit the strip club is!

It's most strange, glad I've got another copy to check or I would think it's just my TV.

My 360 is set to output to 1080p, however my TV signals the fact that it has changed to 720p when playing GTA V, not sure if this is conflicting with it nor not.

I'll have to try it later.

Also, just ordered a PS3 as we are looking for a bedroom rig for media streaming, smart tv, etc. Just so happens that for £195, picked it up with GTA V too. Now I truely can compare (and hope I can remember my old PSN username).

I remember reading that when I did it as well.

you dont get anything extra if you 100% a mission. it just gives you a gold medal I guess.

Does anyone else have cars magically dissapear? I bought michael a very nice custom car and parked it in his houses garage and it just dissapeared! Well that was a waste of 10+k (even had a clown horn!)
