Strifcro has a bunch of vids on stall mage if you want to give it a shot, quite a unique deck. I'm doing quite a bit of zerg mage with flamecallers, bit of druid for its consistency. Not in love with the new hero portraits, overpriced rubbish to me but if it keeps them developing the new game types in tavern then so be it.
 
Ok guys. I have played this since it was released but not hardcore. Just a few games here and there. Recently I started again and played with the Mage from the start. I have Got all the mage cards via the Solo play and also the GvG. Today I got the 2 expacs, Naxx and BRM. I defeated the first boss of Naxx and struggling to even get anywhere with the second boss of the first wing. I have looked on IcyViens for help and decks examples but still struggling. Anything I need to do or in what order is best to do the expacs. Is it best to do the solo play with other heros and unlock the Neutral cards first before playing Naxx etc,
 
It can be annoying the adventure modes bosses. Some need specific heros and deck builds which if like me u just like using a few heroes at most and dont like building new decks as u like the ones u have made already can be annoying. But yeah for some bosses ud need to build a specific deck with a specific hero, didnt like to but it did help even tho i never played some of the heroes before.
 
Ok something weird happened today.

Mistress of Pain and Auchenai Soulpriest

When I attacked with the mistress, my health just went down to zero.

Why would that happen? Doesn't make sense?
 
Whenever Mistress of Pain deals damage, it'll heal your hero for the damage dealt. If the soulpriest is out, it turns that heal into damage. Therefore the Mistress goes into a continuous loop, since dealing damage to your own hero from this event counts towards its ability and it keeps trying to heal the hero for that damage it's just dealt.

edit: misread it at first, thought you meant you were at 1 health when you attacked and died from that 1 damage taken.

Sure I get what the soulpriest does but why does the damage become continuous?
I.e. instead of dealing one damage due to the healing effect, why am I brought down to 0?
 
I think it's because 'she' is still dealing damage... So it continues until she can damage no more.

It's a well known bug apparently but being 2 separate class cards its a rare occurrence.

Hmm still doesn't make sense to me.
The mistress deals one damage, which typically makes you in turn heal one damage.

However since the soupriest is there the opposite should happen. i.e. you lose a damage when the mistress deals a damage.

But I don't understand why the damage dealing to yourself continues.... is it a bug?

Because it's the Mistress that heals you, so it's the mistress that damages you. Therefore each "heal" is the mistress dealing damage, which triggers more heals, that should repeat until it can't damage you anymore.

No idea if it's bugged or not, but seems working as intended to me, wouldn't be surprised if they fixed it though.

I guess they could solve it by saying "damages an enemy" but I doubt they'd do that.

That's it exactly. Nothing to solve as it's intended to work this way. It's not a bug.
 
So just remember if you're ever playing a priest with a Soulpriest on the board who gets a Mistress of Pain from a thoughtsteal / cabal shadow priest / Shredder, then attack one of your minions into their Mistress for an auto win.

"Your cards and powers that restore Health now deal damage instead."

Mistress
"Whenever this minion deals damage, restore that much Health to your hero."

So the mistress has dealt the one damage to the enemy face lets say.
That same one damage gives you one health.
And because you have soulpriest which says that cards which heal, now cause damage, meaning that 1 heal should now be turned into a damage.

I am genuinely failing to see the "cyclical/looping" nature here? Surely the one damage dealt by the mistress (assuming shes not buffed up or anything) should be the only damage that gets healed and then put through as damage to your own hero?

Any explanation appreciated!

Well she deals 1 damage which heals you for 1 health but as you have a soulpriest you take 1 damage instead which counts as damage from the mistress, so it repeats itself.

The Soulpriest changes the Mistresses description to:

Mistress
"Whenever this minion deals damage, deal that much damage to your hero."

This causes the loop. The Misress will damage the targetted minion which causes her to damage your hero. Each time she damages your hero, it triggers her ability again which causes her to damage your hero again. Ad infinitum.
 
Cho, Quite possibly the worst card i could have got from a portal considering i was playing flamewalker/tempo mage (still played it anyways and won the game)

Same happened to me today too. (Was also playing tempo mage) We kept trading mirror entity and coin, was quite funny. I had to kill cho in the end.

The best I got from UP was a turn 3 Cairne Bloodhoof, great drop.
