Nothing really exciting is released in the hardware synth world nowadays.
I remember when I first got into electronic music back in the mid to late 90’s. It was so exciting, I used to pick up the Future music mag and there’d always be something new, exciting and awesomely named on the cover. Korg Prophecy, Trinity, Triton, Quasimidi Raven, Nord lead, supernova, emu orbit, Roland JP8000, the list was endless.
Now i feel bored looking at hardware synths. Most are just boring analog copies, many of which need to be used with software. Even the Korg workstations are nowhere near as exciting as they used to be. Yes, I know soft synths have taken over, but I don’t get the excitement from them as I used to with my Triton or especially my JP8000. I think I might buy some second hand stuff just to bring the good memories back.
