yeah 15-20k is really roughing it.

Because I was that bored this afternoon I just noted down everyone's answers and got some averages...

Education Level: 4.8
Age: 26.1
Salary: 37.3k
Penis: 6.4"

74% of people who provided their sector, worked in IT. Added together we all earn almost £6.5m.

I removed students as you're just a drain on all of us ;)
And where a range was specified for either age or salary I assumed the median value.
There may also be some duplicates where people updated later in the thread, but I CBA keeping track of usernames, so if you did that, you've been included twice.
This is all up to post #647

Age 26-30
Salary 20-25K
Sector Office Based/Management/IT
Education Level: 6
Hours Worked 37-40

Sometimes look at my basic salary and think I'm underpaid but I get car/fuel/cima courses and exams paid for and worked out It'd be near equivalent 40K salary taking those into account.

Lot of big IT contractor earners here. I've been tempted to go that way personally, but with a hefty mortgage and a young family to support I've been afraid having the dreaded slow times with no contract and no money coming in.

To those guys - do you specialise in a specific area, or are you just general devs/analysts?

I specialise in front end development; be it Web, Mobile or even TV. My biggest strengths are in HTML, CSS, Javascript and jQuery. I write full OO javascript and have produced several custom and bespoke plugins.

Also having over 5 years experience in web programming means I'm just as handy with HTML5 & CSS3 as I am with IE6.

I think a combination of these things helps me command high day rates. Be prepared to start low ~£200pd, but rates quickly go north 400-500pd
